The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.
25 themes/skins/styles are now available to members. Check the select drop-down at the bottom-left of each page.
Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I played one of the scenarios that came with the game - the one about the American war of Independance. It was pretty bad at the level I played. I simply built the best available miltary unit and captured cities. Then suddenly the game announced that I'd won. Perhaps I was supposed to play at a higher level, or with the other side. Anyway, I'm sure the community can produce a lot better.
The question in my mind is how easy it will be to produce animations for new units, terrain or buildings? Although the access to the code will help, it may require a lot of effort to produce scenarios as good as those for Civ II.

No. I want to know if anyone in our community is doing anything. There's nothing to say that SL is limited to Civ2.
Exactly right.
I'm yet to get Civ4 - everyone tells me that it's very addictive and I don't want to waste more of my time.

I tried the Afrika Korps scenario. It was very simple - the Italians and British both had Sherman tanks.
Is it just my imagination or are the maps on Civ3 & 4 much smaller?
Any news on events capability? I know you can adjust the strengths and abilities of units in great detail, but I don't know if you can program historical events as in Civ2.

I haven't played CIv4, but I have a feeling Civ3 maps were strangely small as well.
I didn't like CIv3. And to be honest, I hope I won;t like Civ4 as well...

I skipped Civ3, but I rather like Civ4. My main annoyance right now is the terribly trite and puerile diplomacy dialogue. Should I get into modding it, my first project would be to rewrite the dialogue from scratch.
I won't pretend to know anything about designing or making 3D polygon units for gameplay, but in this day and age some sort low cost software should be made availble simply to allow the loyal fans of these games edit they're own units.
Now I'm sure it would be far from easy to create the software to let fans do this, but I guarentee the game that first allows this mass modding will see a very long lifespan..... just like our own beloved Civilzation II (ten years and still going strong ).
I'm with Leo here - civ4 is quite enjoyable, particularly the more sophisticated unit attributes. The Rome scenario was shaping up quite nicely but the game is fatally bugged at the moment; end-games with lots of unit animations cause repeated CTD's which seem to be a problem for other people too. I'll hang on for the patches before wasting any more time on it.

I think the realistic limit for the likes of us is messing with unit skins. Creating a decent 3D model is tricky and, as Harry says, decent software that supports formats like 3DS is astronomically expensive.
Very, if the extent of the text files are anything to go by - but incredibly complex as well. The units text file is massive and there are dozens of lines of code for each unit.
