  • La Belle Epoque Graphics Update

Typhoon, teamed up with Sarsstock, was kind enough to provide me with a graphical update to La Belle Epoque (version 3). Uninwited I might add!

So kudos to Typhoon and Sarsstock for these wonderful industrial unit graphics (new flags also in the zip), and of course Fairline as these files are based on his originals!

Very nice indeed Eivind. I'm curious, are you still in need of the victorian industrial city style you had requested afew months back? The one I had shown in a preview for VERNE? I ask because at the time I said I was saving it for VERNE, but if you still needed it I'd be glad to lend it to ya for this project.

              Whatever happened to Verne anyways?

I know, you're probably busy. I know what is to start a project and leave it on the shelf.

Well, I don't want to say production has ceased on Verne, I've put so much time and effort and thought into it that I'm not quite ready to give up just yet. Still, its been a long time since I did any meaningfull work on my steam punk epic.

I am looking forward to this project however, as its essentially taking place in the same era as when Verne begins.

You know, I just looked up Steam Punk in the wikipedia. There seems to be a hell of a lot of stuff on the topic.

Yes I just looked it up myself on Wikipedia, who ever wrote that article was pretty well informed on the subject. I've always liked to think of "Steam Punk" as a genre where all architecture, fashions, governments and technologies are based on classic Victorian models, not to mention that everything when possible runs on steam (i.e. cars, zepplins, aeroplanes) . Jules Verne, if ever completed, will be the very definition of a steam punk universe.

Now as not to be guilty of threadjacking here, I'm attatching an improved version of the title screen I had made up a little while back for Eivind. This one features more contrast between light and shadows, and I've tried to modify it for the 256 colour pallet as best I can so it won't show bright blue and pink pixles in places of reds when loaded up in game.

Well its been a while since I assembled the basic graphics for the image, though I seem to remember having trouble finding an appropriate poster image for each civ I think this site was pretty usefull.

It was a link Pablo gave to me that he'd used to make the poster ensemble title for his epic classic "Spanish Civil War". Thankyou both Smiley and Broken Hawk, I was pretty happy with how it turned out .

This is brilliant Sarsstock! Exeptional title graphic! I loved the old one, but this is much more improved!

And those cities are nice, but without consistant and different russian, european, american and japanese styled cities they are pretty superflous. But I use them for Imperialism and they are very much beutiful!
