I havne't civ4 mp'd yet, but the actual game is far more in depth than civ2 for SP mode. Keep in mind Civ (the whole series) isn't a WAR game. It's a build a civilization to stand the test of time type of game, where war plays a role but that role can be scaled up/down depending on the situation, and the style of game you play.

That said, civ 1/2 were similar. Civ 3/4 are also similar in their comparisons, but completely different from their predecessors. The game has evolved to add more features/options yet tried to tone down micromanaging.

As in the origional civ and civ 2, there are flaws, culture bombs, great person exploits, and a few others. They are simply different exploits for a different game.

Personally i like trying new strategies

I hated Civ III but like this game (IV). I don't really find them too similiar.

Have to agree with that DD.

I played Civ3 for a few days and hated it - can't even find my CD now.

            Civ4 is totally enthralling.

            Civ2 is legendary.

the one thing i hate about civ 4 is the 3D world they have put in. i hate the way the world rotates as i zoom in and out. i find it a querky thing.

also civ 3 and civ4 are very similar. the culture and trade system are basically the same.

i dont know what a culture bomb is nor any of the great people exploits.

i play to hav efun, not find an exploit to win.

which is why i left civ2 becasue unles you knew the exploits you couldnt stay competitive to enjoy the game.
