Ah, my only MP game (well for at least 3 turns). IIRC, St. Pompey and General Fairena were just set to trounce Bocus Crassus. I remember the barbs over breeches more than the game itself.
Tech did you ever revisit this to tweak the Gauls? IIRC, Kullcengetorix had quite the advantage over Techumsius Caesar, and I suspect it wasn't all superior gamesmanship. Or...is it well-adjusted for SP as is?
Maybe I should just try this SP to see? Any recommendations as to the civ to play?
Bocus, you're right that the Gauls are a bit too powerful in the hands of a capable human player, but they make a formidable defender when played by the AI. I haven't got around to tweaking them yet, but a comprehensive overhaul might be worth considering sometime. There are still 20 unused unit slots and 52 kb of unused events space.
It's a bit short (124 turns) and ends at the time of the assasination of Julius Caesar. If there were some way to create further factions (eg. Antony vs. Octavian vs. Brutus and Cassius) after a victory of of one of the original factions, then it could be extended to around the time Augustus was made emperor (~29 BC).
As for SP, the Syrian Legions, the Cisalpine Legions and the Egyptians are the most challenging. The Spanish Legions are fun too, but a little easier. If you just want to conquer stuff, the Parthians are for you.

I'll take that as an invitation for some playing and feedback. Sometime before January, I'm aiming for some serious SP scenario playing fun (even if I have to use aged 2 month old versions of fairline's units ).
I love the vistas on display here, and the city flags are great...!
Another era opens for CIV2!
The makeover could use some more of your fantastic cities Curt Celtic and Persian perhaps...

What a nice surprise. Thanks, GB. Don't forget the camels though. That oil is a bit premature. Here's one you might use
Thanks - your terrain files already had a camel in them but for some reason it shows up as oil Perhaps a bug with the animations.

As I recall Bocus, King Fairena was floundering with no descernable strategy I was worried you were about to trounce me - all mouth and no bracae indeed
I've just finished playing an SP game as Caesar - it's very enjoyable but extremely tough to get a decisive Objective victory, even playing on big-girl's-blouse setting.
BTW Tech, are we still playtesting this one If so, can I suggest that you rename the unused civs to something appropriate for extra Roman factions (Brutus or Marcus Antonius etc). After I'd taken Rome, the Senate civ split into Romans and Vikings
