  • Test of Time Conversion Project update

    - finished the conversion and graphic upgrade to Kull's "End of the Bronze Age". Thanks to Kull and Fairline for their help. Download it here: http://apolyton.net/upload/view.php?..._ToTAE1200.ZIP

    Sounds: http://apolyton.net/upload/view.php?...TAE1200Snd.ZIP

    - thanks to Alex Woehr who has so far sent me the following converted scenarios: First World War by Jesus Munoz, Quest for Asia by Stephan Hartel, Cross and Crescent by Bebro, Brown Man's Burden and Justinian the Great, by Carl Fritz, and Mongols by Harlan Thompson. Keep 'em coming!

    - started to replace the terrain on some of these. In general, the converted scenarios will have units by Fairline and Bebro, terrain by Catfish, and cities by Curt Sibling. Volunteers to upgrade older terrain and units with newer art are needed.

    - Curt, we are in desperate need of more of your wonderful cities. Can you help us out?

    - I've made a new page for my website to host the new scenarios. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't upload it right now. So for now, I'll just upload the first files to 'poly.

Excellent. To go with your outstanding Babylonian, Roman and Chinese cities (attached), it would be great to also have compatable Egyptian, Persian, Greek, and Indian styles. Thanks!

I'm really interested in seeing the ToT version of "Brown Man's Burden". Do you really intend to eventually upgrade all the above mentioned scenario's techumseh?

I hope so. There is so much outstanding art that is "orphaned" ie. not used in a scenario, that I think it's a shame. And there's lots of great classic scenarios that could use a makeover. So....

Are you interested in helping with the art upgrade for BMB?

Here's one last screen shot - from my game as the Assyrians. Having swept away the Babylonians, Hittites and Sea People with masses of now-obsolete chariots, the Assyrians are bogged down in seige warfare against the Egyptians in Judea.

Sure I'd love to help update the artwork for BMB. Just PM me Tech and let me know how exactly I can help out. Sadly I'm not the city graphic artist Curt is, nor am I the terrain wizzard Catfish is.

Still, for this task I am your servant sir .

On another note, I think this whole endevor couldn't come at a better time for Civ II. There are so many amazing games out there that are simply graphically outdated, at the same time as there is so much brilliant orphaned artwork as techumseh mentioned.

This will go a long way to keeping Civ II relevant in the always evolving world of gaming.

Great. PM me with your email and I'll send you the files Alex has converted. Then you just need to dig through the unit collections here and on your hard drive and replace the units. Ditto for terrain. Fairline has done a colonial collection and Hardjoy an African one. If you need either, let me know. Hardjoy (Morten Blajberg) has done an outstanding African terrain set as well. That's it!
