Are you still working on this great project rmsharpe? I sure hope we can see a sequel where the US and Britain are seeking to throw the Libyans off of Malta, along with they're friends from Russia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Cuba and North Korea .
I agree, its a quite interesting scenario indeed. I'd be curious to see how the gang of international villan states in this scenario plan on defending Malta from the inevitable American/NATO counter attack.
I think I remember you saying Comrade Fidel was going to redeploy veteran Cuban troops from Angola and Mozambique to Malta to set up a permanent base on the occupied island. I wonder if this Cuban base will be operational by the time the counter attack comes.
Also, I PM'd you a word document copy of the 3D waving flag tutorial over at Evo. Posted below are two links, the first being for the actual tutorial and the second being for a pretty good tutorial site that featured the link.
God, I neglect Civ2 so much. You probably all hate me by now. Thanks, maybe I just need a refresher course in playing and try out some of the new scenarios in the time being.

You absolutely, positively couldn't be more wrong. Why should, or would, anyone hate you for taking a break from scenario making?
An incredible amount of time and effort is needed to create a scen because the criteria for what constitutes a good scen have become so demanding. Events, multiple files and maps, ever better graphics, innovative ideas, appropriate sounds and using TOT have made scen creation into an incredibly time consuming and complex mental and physical exercise. There is no better evidence of this than the time between the first post in a development thread and the link to the download. It was not very long ago that East Wind, Rain was considered to be a good Pacific war scen. Now it pales in comparison to both DST and EOTR.
Designers and artists are subject to RL demands, burn-out and becoming fed up with long and complex projects and have to take either a complete break or get onto something different. Scenario making is, and should be, a labor of love, not a job with deadlines to be met.
I can assure you that those of us who enjoy playing scens are grateful for the work of everyone who contributes time and effort to their creation. No one in their right mind (this excludes rabid, loyal and loudmouth fans) complains about how quickly or slowly a project progresses.
Above all, stop flagellating yourself for no reason. Just move yer bloomin arse.

I don't see how anyone on this forum could possibly resent anyone else for merely taking a break from what is a truly time consuming past time. I agree fully with Agricola that the demands of the real world take priority over this game we educated fools play.
I'm not kidding when I say Malta was one of the best scenario's I've played in a long time, in terms of story writing, graphic art and overall gameplay. You've contributed quite a bit to the forum and you should take all the time you need to get back into Civ II if you so wish.
I was just joking when I said you all hate me. Lighten up, you people!
Today, I'll be uploading 0.2 and asking users to find any bugs or suggestions that I've missed since the last time I worked on it.
The next version will absolutely have the seperate events for Malta/Libya. Until then, it's the same file. I want to get all of the .scn and sound bugs worked out first. There are sounds, so the file is a little bigger. Now, since I repeat the use of some sounds, I've included another .bat file so it'll just copy them over instead of having to download a file that's 2x big.
Playing it as we speak, and it seems just as riveting as I'd hoped. Personally I still enjoy playing as the invading Libya's rather than the defending Maltese, but I don't think thats due to gameplay, rather the general preference to play the role of the protagonist. I'd also love to help out with any sequel you might have in the works.
There's lots possibilites for just how the western nations would react to this invasion, assuming the Maltese defence eventually fails and the Libyan's take the island. Regan couldn't simply allow blatant Soviet backed hostility to go unanswered (especially in an electoin year, though he would eventually clobber Mondale), Thatcher couldn't allow for the invasion of European soil to go unpunished, nor could NATO itself allow for a hostile combined force of international aggresors to sit just miles from Italian shores.
The question is....... what are they willing to do about it? Will Regan order a unilatera American attack? Will Thatcher alone attempt to take the island for the United Kingdom? Or will all the NATO allied nations reconize this threat and respond in force together? Only time will tell.
