I might have said yes, except that I have joined 3 games recently. You can check out my "Hammer" post to see if that looks interesting to you. Have you tried this site ?

I have not played there. But at first glance, it looks more active than Poly or CFC.

Bostero - I am pretty new to PBEMs, not an expert. But I joined the

        1) "Seeds of G" game last fall.
        2) A "Hammer" game just started at CFC.
        3) A Fast PBEM Duel with SlowThinker.

All three have threads in this forum where you can read more. If you want to play, maybe caesar007 will play a duel with you or you can wait for more players to show up.

I think it is rare that a new game starts here or at CFC, but if you lurk a while something may open up. If you need help starting a game, someone here can probably answer your questions.

          Just wondering, dude

Yes im a member of Evo-Game and currently a very active player there. im looking for new people here and at CFC, to see what kind of scenarios are they playing, if they are reliables, etc. Well i guess i can have you into account as a future player.

          Good luck.

            Bostero,

Sorry, I assumed Settler = Newbie. My plate is full at the moment, but I do enjoy PBEMs and will probably try EVO eventually. How fast do you guys usually play over there - do you wait weeks or months between moves ?

We try to keep within 24 hours or 48 hours. The more reliable players the faster and better. And we do need fresh blood, so please come over!

I am considering whether to join or propose another PBEM if one of my current games ends soon. A PBEM can be a lot of fun, but there are also some problems with the whole idea:

                    a) Some players will have to play losing positions for a long long time, without much hope or much fun (at least for me). Or they quit, and disrupt the game for the others. In scenarios especially, it seems common to have a lost position from the very start.

                    b) AFAIK there are no std rules for PBEMs, and not much agreement on what is reasonable behavior. You are never sure whether someone (even yourself) is cheating.

                    c) PBEMs can move so slowly that you forget your plans, so there is not much sense of continuity to the game.

IMO a PBEM with only 2 or 3 players might be the best way to minimize these problems (but "the more the merrier" makes some sense, too).

None of this is intended as a criticism of anyone at Apolyton! I like the players here and am just talking about the general format of PBEMs. If anybody has ideas, please post em - maybe I'll propose a new game eventually.

As some people pointed out already:

I admit, it is going slower than usual at the moment over there, but that is still a lot faster than the speed of this graveyard.
