Carrier question

Okay this question has probably been asked before, but since the old threads are gone I couldn't find an answer to it.

My question is, is it possible for a carrier to carry both air units and land units? Or do I have to have different units for carriers and transports?

I'm asking this cause I've been thinking of a space scenario, and it would be cool for a big space ships to both carry smaller space ships (air units) and infantry.
