  • Well I decided to give the basic model here a blueish silver colouring, I think you can pretty much change the colour to anything that might be required.

Let me know if you have any comments on how to improve the design, I have all the assembly files saved so alterations shouldn't be hard at all.

The USN used the midnight blue scheme while the new USAF used unpainted bare metal.

      • and anybody in the aviation community will tell you, there's nothing prettier than a polished bare aluminum airplane (with a little bit of paint to spice it up- i.e. insignias, and maybe a few stripes).

        • Looks good Chris! I just have a few small alterations I want you to make, if it's not to much trouble . Thank you for doing this by the way, you are one of the most talented artists we have

The Sabre should have a tapered fuselage toward the back ending at a small exhaust. The two tail wings on either side should be smaller. The back fin should also taper down the fuselage a bit. The nose of the jet should gently end over the intake with the intake being smaller and on a forward tilt. The wings should end with a tip parellel to the fuselage. The cockpit should be brought back a bit and made smaller too.

The color scheme is dead-on and looks perfect. Fairline is right, the color scheme is unwashed aluminum.

Now I do feel like an ass asking for these alterations just so you know. Your plane is perfectly fine, but I'm a stickler for accuracy.

          • Well those changes aren't necessarily that difficult since the body of the plane can be easily tweaked. I can easily narrow the cockpit as well I think....

            I'm on the job!

            • Well I narrowed the cockpit (by borrowing one of your models), shortened the wingspan, tappered the fuselage and made the seams less aparent. Is this a little more accurate Harry?

              • i thought i had more than just this one F-86 saved up, but i was wrong. anyhow, it looks pretty good, maybe it'll be close to what you're after.

                  • It's very close Chris, I like it! Thank you!

                    • Well, in an attempt to be even closer I've lengthened the fuselage so it can be tappered off more, blended the wings into the fuselage more than in earlier attempts and changed the angles on the wings outer edges.

                      • I was looking for that unit. I lost my computer several months ago to a fit of download frustration. After caving in the side of the case with my fist, the CPU fan mysteriously refused to stay in place. Unfortunatly, of all the back ups I have of those files, I can not get any of them to work on my work laptop. I was going to find it and enlarge it for you Harry

                              • i've never seen that P-51 before- it's awesome! easily the best i've ever seen on this site.

i think i've asked this before, but is there a Corsair done by Fairline, or in the Fairline style? i've made attempts at one on my own, but it's never turned out any better than existing examples (all that i've seen aren't very good- it's a rather difficult aircraft to do)
