The Japanese had lots of bunkers on the islands.

Will these be in the scenario?

    • The problem in the Civ engine with dual AA gun-artillery is that it needs a high attack to be functional as artillery and a high defense to be functional as an AA gun, and thus you get a 'super unit' which effectively obsoletes tanks and easily allows the Japanese to hand the Allied players' butts to them on land, which, because it likely has the AEGIS quality, even Allied air power can't effectively counter.

As for bunkers, I am just using fortresses placed on islands with Japanese marines beginning in them.

      • Right.

I didn't know how the Civ2 engine functioned in this regard.

So I guess a separate AA gun it is then

It's looking good so far Patine

        • Exactly.

Here's an 88mm AA gun I found in Chris' graphics revision of 2094 days of war. Could someone please touch it up for ToT? Thanks!

          • @Leonidas: I'm afraid to say your Japanese infantry sound is in a format not compatible with ToT. I've just finished doing sounds, and I've realized this. I'll have to default to the base infantry sound I'm using (borrowed from Nemo's Red Front) for Japanese infantry too, even though I did like yours. BTW, thanks for the ongoing support and sorry for the somewhat smug 'exactly,' above; I was just agreeing with your AA gun note, not taking your vote of confidence for granted.

In general: Now, with the exception of the final AA gun graphic being placed and a look at Curt's cities update, I've finished the cities, icons, terrain1 and 2, and units.bmp files, the rules.txt file, and the .scn file. I have now begun on events officially, though I would like to send out a request for a people.bmp file appropriate to the scen.

            • What format is the sound in ToT?

If it's a wav file but with different characteristics, then these can be easily modified.

The current audio format for that Japanese sound is:

PCM 22,050 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo

              • I have a feeling that Japanese sound will need to be changed to this:

PCM 22,050 Hz, 8 Bit, Stereo

                • I'll have to get a new floppy disk tomorrow and transfer it to my old computer (that has all the .wav file altering software). If you could take care of that for me before that, I'd be much obliged, but I'm not at all pressuring you.

                  • I can easily change the audio format - that's no problem.

But I need someone with ToT to confirm for me the audio format of ToT wav files (I don't have the game installed at the moment).

                    To do this:

Right click on a ToT wav file, select "properties", then select the "details" tab at the top. Just post here what the audio format is for the wav file.

Once this is done, I can change the Japanese sound file and post a new one here.

                    • You're right, it's the same as regular civ: 20,050 hz, 8 bit and either stereo or mono. Stereo files are twice the size as mono.

                        Many thanks techumseh

It should take me about two minutes to change the wav file so it will work with ToT.

                        • Here is a Zip file with the Japanese Banzai sound.

I have included two wav files: one is in STEREO, the other is in MONO (both are labelled).

Both wav files are in the following audio format:

                          PCM,22,050 Hz, 8 Bit

Please check and use the one that sounds the best.

                          Cheers!

                            • Uhm, Leonidas, I hate to be a stickler, and it was great of you to convert the sound file, but you converted the Godzilla file (at least that's what it sounds not), not the actual Japanese infantry file. Sorry to be the one to point this out, but I'm afraid it is the case.

Godzilla file? What the heck is that?

I downloaded the zip file and played the sounds and it's the Japanese Banzai sounds.

                                Not sure what happened here

Did you rename the wav file to be the one you wanted?
