Any closer to a release for this much awaited scenario? I actually bought ToT in hopes of playing this...

          • Soon, my friend!

I just have to finish the title and the new city file.

And also find someone to host the zips!

I will aim for this weekend.

            • Looking forward to this

I have one question about ToT:

When I start to install ToT it says it will install DirectX 6.0 . However, I have DiretcX 9.0 installed.

Will ToT install DirectX 6.0 over-riding DirectX 9.0?

Will that mean I will have to re-install DirectX 9.0 again?

              Thanks

              • The most up to date version is fine.

Just leave the DirectX at 9.0, and refuse the offer of 6.0 -

                • The problem is the install panel shows up like this:

                  "Install DirectX 6.0"

It only has a tab labelled "yes".

There is NO option to click "no"

                  • What you should do is eitehr just press escape to bypass it;

Or jsut install it, and then get the most up-to-date
version of DirectX from the web and overwrite it.

And don;t forget the 1.1 patch and no-limits!

                      heheh

Yes sir, pressing the "Esc" key did the trick

ToT (patched to v1.1 with the no-cd patch) is now installed.

Thanks Curt - you saved me some headaches...

I took a quick look around through the game - whoa... what a monster this puppy is - 4 games in 1.

Looks like a whole new game to get acquainted with...

What replacement graphics do you recommend?

                      • Welcome to ToT!
Here is an essential site for you, featuring the work of that master, Catfish!

Plenty of nice items and good weblinks to other ToT areas too!

So, make sure you backup your ToT 'original' folder,
copy in his terrains and units, then be amazed as
Catfish's graphic goodies take ToT into the 21st century!

                        • Thanks Curt

Hard to know where to begin - heheh

After being immersed in Civ2 MGE for years, ToT is like a completely new game.

Even unmodded, it has quite a look about it. Although, I agree with others that its basic graphics are a bit too dark, so the interface and basic game units will get a facelift.

And the 24 bit graphics is quite a step up.

Since many new games on the market don't have much of an appeal for me, ToT makes for a pleasant surprise to have on my hard drive.

For those who like turn-based games and Civ2, I highly recommend grabbing this game while it can still be found...

                          Cheers!
