  • Scratch Pad Thread

I thought this might be a fun idea to give some insight into the work that scenario designers put into their scenarios.

Below I have published my main scratch pad graphics file that I used for Gold Gulch. In this file I built my saloons, modified Fairline's units, modified Curts cities for use in terrain, and created my own terrain, parts of which were derived from Favoured Flight's terrain.

If you've created a scenario, what does your scratch pad look like?

    Killer workshop thread!

This way, people can adopt each other's files to diversify and increase graphic production!

Here is my mega buildings file - From which most of my cities grow.

If you want to use anything, all I ask is you give myself and any others (Smiley, Favouredflight, Catfish) a credit.

    Enjoy!

PS some of those cities are tweaked by Jim Panse, Fairline and many others,
the Curt/Smiley credit is held over from the humble city.bmp that this file grew from!

I'm going to love this thread

I've been contemplating picking up Rhodesia, in addition to a few other ideas I have.

It would be great if you decided to get back into that project, rmsharpe!

I have no doubt that a scenario from you would be a winner -

I'm not all that great of an artist, though, thus causing some difficulty. I have to depend on the great work of the other artists here.

                  Great idea, Harry!

Here's one of my first attempts at making a unit from scratch. I made it by looking at the pic in the background. It's not very good looking, nor any detailed, but the technique is very easy, for those first-timers out there.

I just realised, what I'm posting is more "graphics workshop" material, right?

Anyway, I have more of these of needed.

Eh, not really. A scratchpad can show a progression when building a unit, terrain, cities, whatever. I think Catfish's thread was to show a technique exclusively, not just a representation of a certain unit being built. Fairline's Soviet tank "How to" could even be a scratchpad, but then again he was showing off a technique. I think you're fine.

                            Very well!

I have dozens of these laying around. Here's another one of my early ones I found. The German ww2 heavy fighter dornier 335. If you zoom in on it you'll see that again I've used a very easy technique, that anyone should be able to learn with some practice. It's not har at all, it's just very time consuming.

I used the background pic as a source. Eventually I tried myself at the texture technique thing, with very little success. I would love to see someone touch this one up, and then give it some real texture

I thought this thread could use a bump. It's a great concept. I've tinkered with stuff, but never actually produced anything. When I get around to making some things, I'll post my scratch up here.
