  • scenario crash :(

Hello, can somebody help me please?
Im making a scenario (in C2: Fantastic Worlds) and now I have to deal with a big problem - when I start that scenario, it crashes, also I get a crash when trying to change civilization advance (in Cheat menu) or when I try to contact some (not all) other civilizations.

    Some informations:
That scenario is on a classic theme - aliens attacking Earth... so there are two different ways of technologies, wonders and units. Events are not done yet, so they couldnt be source of that problem...
Map has about 190 cities, but there isnt too much units on the map. Every city counts as an objective.

    Please help me

Try linking the tech tree to future tech. If your tree is not linked to this advance it will crash
You have made peace with the evil Wheredehekowi tribe-we demand you tell us if they are a tribe that is playing this scenario.
We also agree not to crush you, if you teach us the tech of warp drive and mental telepathy and give 10 trinkets

Make sure there is a clear progression towards the future technology...

hm... You know, once my scn used to crush, and the cause was that I placed , instead of . somewhere in the rules file...
Uh, except for that, I don't know any reason...

Did you screw with any of the other text files in the scenario directory when you were editing? A mistake in game.txt or even labels.txt can cause a scenario to crash.

Open up an unedited rules.txt and place it right next to your edited rules.txt on your screen. Line up the two open windows and try to see what's different. Once you do that, try posting a screenshot or just tell me what you found. Or, just post the edited file and I'll look.

Another thing you can try is backup your scen's rules file (rename it something other than rules), and copy the standard rules from the main civ2 folder. Check if it works that way (it should if it's a rules.txt problem).

Then open both files and start replacing the different sections of the unmodified rules file (copying and pasting) from your backup. Start with only the @Technology section (taking care not to leave any duplicate entry) and trying the scen after every time (remember to save the rules file before loading the scen )

You can thus easily round down the problem to one section, so that you can spot it easily. If you want, you can also post the section here (I recommend attatching a txt file so that the formatting stays) so that we can help you.

                              cool! thanx I made it...

the problem was in the banking technology... dont know if it was caused because I gave it another prerequistes, or because I linked city walls to it, but it was making the bug :/
                              thanks all for help
