  • Windows XP can 't run Civ II?

In the last week, I've tried installing Civ II MPG on two new machines running Windows XP. Both machines give the same error message. Basically, the error says XP can't run 16 bit games. It then says to shut down some programs to gain more memory. This is with basically nothing running. Anyone know what's going on?

OK, never mind...I tried a copy of my disk, it now works fine...Go figure...

I don't think the problem is with XP - MGE runs OK on my laptop which is XP. On the other hand, I can't offer any sensible suggestion as to what you can do about it.

Did you do a full install from the cd, including the Indieo drivers??

It's creepy. It's been like the fourth thread so far this week regarding Civ2 and XP... Perhaps we should draft a howto / troubleshooting on Civ2 and XP?

I've noticed all the problems with XP lately. Fortunately, mine seems to have been simply a disc that was too scratched up.
I suppose that would qualify as operator error . I have since installed it with a copy of the disc with no problems.
