  • Do you play with or without sounds?

Lately I've heard some talk to whether people play civ2 with the sounds on or not. It would be interesting to get an "official" answer to the question. So, what do you do? With or without?

Personally, I usually play without, as I think it's noisy and I like to listen to music when I play.

Good golly, there must always be sound!

Nothing beats that NAVGUN and DIVEBOMB symphony!

I usually listen to some music while playing, so the sounds would only distract me

I want the full sensory experience when I play. Plus, I like editing sounds and making my own. I use Goldwave to edit and modify sound files. Civ2 will play stereo sounds as well, and that adds a lot to the atmosphere -and also to the file size.

A scenario without sounds is incomplete.

Hm... I didn't know people are so kin on sounds.
Perhaps I should have made sounds for my scns - but it's too late now.
I'd have to redisign all the units, right?

              About sounds . . . . .

When I first began to play with and alter others scenarios, the sounds were one of the first things I worked on.

Since then, I always plan for sounds in a scenario. It's important to do so at the outset, I discovered early on, but things will get changed as the tweaking process continues.

Some of the sounds I've put into the slots were so evocative that they really made the scenario work for me.

There's still a lead for 'without'

But yeah, you would most likely have to reasign some units to make them all have the correct sound.

You have to have sound. Without them the imagination is severely deprived.

I sometimes make sounds for my scens, depending on my lazyness

Just recently I made some sounds for Blitzkrieg 1942, which I ripped from various other games such as Combat Mission. Found here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=115962

I use Sound Forge to edit sounds.

Lets say You want to have a sound of camelry.
                        (camel cavalry that is )
What do You do, then? How do You find a sound of a camel?

Just swap some WAVs around and it will do the trick!

Well, I can try it but eventually, some units will end up with unproper sounds if I do not correct their location in rules and units.bmp
