  • Next big project ???

I'm currently torn between putting together a WWII or a Fall-o-Rome scenario.

    Comments?

What about your Battle of Jutland scenario? D

Anyways, I would favour a Fall-of-Rome scen over another WW2 scenario

Indeed, the WWII one could wait a little longer, since we have so many of those. I for one think we need a Fall of Rome scenario, I ahevn't seen a decent one.

I think there is a scenario called exactly The Fall of Rome in the Spanish Bestonet
        .

But wait, this is an 'Exile' WW2 scen - Something different.

I would love to see what technology tree you would use.

          I support your WW2 idea.

            Get's my vote absolutely

Did you really suggest a WW2 scenario Phenix?

I guess we have not had a real Roman epic since Pericles and BeBro's masterworks.

There are plenty of graphics around too.

And if a new scen in that era offers the same empire building as Age of Crusades, then I am sold!

Well, what Gareth says is correct. As soon as I get the ship graphics from him, the Jutland scenario will get done quick. In the meantime, I work on other things.

And yes, I DID say WWII scenario. While it's true that there are a number of them out there, there are none that satisfy me. I will build one to suit myself, and it will be good because of that. I might, however, "borrow" extensively some of the wonder and improvement ideas from prior scenarios. The tech tree and rate will have to be very closely engineered to achieve the desired results. I've been looking closely at WWII threads here and scenarios that are on my HD to see what others have done. Oddly, I don't seem to have any of Curt's WWII scenarios. Curt, where can I get them?

                I'm still torn, though.

I really only have one WW2 effort worthy of rememberance.

That's the Dictator scen, which features great units by fairline and Jim Panse to name a few.

I am playing it right now to test the latest additions.

Exile, feel free to grab a copy of Dictator here...

I'd say Fall-o-Rome, but I remember there's already one on work: "Running Free" by Stefan Haertel. (look at thread "Coming soon" )
Well, that scenario will be centered on Huns (protagonists, suggested unique playable IIRC) - so it's possible make another one by Roman point-of-view (a pair of old projects of mine ); however Stefan stopped in summer... We could make pression on Stefan and suggest something else here (maybe NOT ww2 - I like it, but we risk to inflationate... )
However, Battle of Jutland seems great, however IMHO (as long time ago) - "Operation Mercury" (battle of CRETA 1941) could be intriguing too, isn't it?
                    Bye !
"Dilexi iustitiam, odivi iniquitatem, propterea morior in exilio" [PAPA GREGORIUS VII +1085] - ("He amado la justicia, he odiado la iniquidad, por eso muero en exilio") - ("I loved justice, I hated unfairness, that's why I die in exile") - (J'ai aimé la justice, j'ai détesté l'iniquité, c'est pourquoi je meurs en exil") - ("Ich liebte Gerechtigkeit und hasste Ungerechtigkeit, deshalb sterbe ich im Exil")

                      Apart from Red Front, which is commie only;
There has seldom been a really awesome Barbarossa scenario - From the Axis sides...That would be excellent.

Eurasian map, and playable by Germans, Finns, Rumanians or others?

Yes, Curt, I'd thought about something along those lines. Just estimating, the civs right now would be; Allied (USA, France, & GB), German, Russian, Italian, Hungary/Rumania/Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia/Albania/Greece. This selection gives some reason for diplomacy. There will be no Vichy regime. It will start in 1939 with the Germans and Russians poised to invade Poland. It will be made to play only as the Germans. I will attempt to make the conquest of Russia as close to impossible as possible. I will have to determine if a Spanish/Swedish/Turkish/Swiss will remain neutral if I give it Eiffel tower and no movable units. Poles will be allied units. All other neutrals will be barbarians and therefore likely to be invaded, including Norway, Dennmark, Holland, and Belgium. I am wondering if I could somehow create "neutral territory" like Eivind/Kobra did in his Norwegian Campaign scenario. This might use up a unit slot, but would free an entire civ, so it's worth looking into.

Phew! And I thought the lack of a certain S&T article was gumming up the works.

Use TalkerMask with Negotiation. In other words, I have no useful MGE tips to give.

                              Sounds promising!

It might be worth putting the Germans or Soviets under a differnet civ than normal.

This would help stop the usual Barbarossa problem where Russia gets the 1st hit in...

I reckon given your attention to detail, this scen would be a
real classic to join your already superb resume of civ work...

                              The choice is yours -
