The rendering of the individual buildings is great. Moscow State U is a perfect reproduction of the real central building.

To me, the light palette makes the icons have a bright, Mediterranean appearance rather than the dreary, leaden grey look and feel that Communist era cities seemed to strive for and exude.
Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :

Money can buy happiness, just raise the luxury rate to 50%.
Money is not the root of all evil, it is the root of great empires.

1950s Socialist Realism was all about brightness and enlightenment, it was the 1960s socialist reality (not enough money) that produced the famous gray commieblocks.

I agree. I always do that

The cities look very good! And one of them just great
You know, 3 years ago when I started studying in Warsaw,
I bought myself a postcard with PKiN, which is example of socrealistic monumental architecture.
I bought it with a thought of making a civ2 city out of it. Never did that though

                    Completed.

The smallest size city features Vienna's Karl Marx Hof apartment complex. Walled cities come complete with a gatehouse.

If there is enough demand, I'll make an isometric version.

Wonderful. I toured Karl Marx Hof several years ago on a visit to Vienna. It's a huge worker's housing co-op. It was the site of a battle in the early '30s between the local communists and the Austrian government. Just in case anyone was wondering.

I never ever expected anyone to recreate the Karl-Marx-Hof for Civ2!

                        Fancy!

Btw, keep up that brillian work, Smiley

Remember the old 'World War 1979' FW scenario?

These cities would be great if anyone ever decided to upgrade that classic!

Yep, the Karl Marx Hof is something over a kilometer long, and made up of a lot more of these sections. Isn't there a song about it?

I'd love an isometric version of those cities...

In fact, now that I'm reminded of the old WW79, maybe I could do something with that (and it wouldn't look ugly )
