It works fine for me, but I understand that some people have had difficulties - usually solved by (re) installing particular drivers.

Civ II 2.42a is running fine for me on XP.

      Which version?

      What problems?

You may need to get the latest Indio drivers; but otherwise, Civ2 works fine on XP.

I use MGE perfectly with win XP...

if your's doesn't run, i can try sending you the DLL's in my CIV2 folder, to see if that helps... or perhaps the exe file.

Perhaps I misunderstand your words, and if so, I apologise; but, there is no LEGAL way to upgrade from 2.42 to MGE. They are completely different versions. If you are having problems, they may be due to your using an illegal "patch", a patch which has many warnings about how unstable it can make things for the user.

Legal versions of Civ do not cause a computer to totally collapse. If what you are using is a legal disc, it does not have the coding to totally crash your box. So try again. And Good Luck.
