  • Coming Soon - KINGDOMS of STEEL!

    Hail, noble knights!
I have heard many cries from posters about a lack of sword and shield-waving scenarios being made.

I would say that there are quite a few underway, Running Free and War of the Ring among them.

So to take a break from Panzers and B17s (for now!)
I too plan to present a small scen I was working on for the fun of it.

This is Kingdoms of steel, set in a fantasy map with the usual consignment of civs.

This is time the action is a bit more generic, the plan was to create a classic civ2 like game, but with some differences...

Slower tech, so you can enjoy the eras more.

Magic and wizardry replace microchips and industry.

Mighty warriors, magcial artefact wonders in an age of bravery and steel!

    *ahem*

    The civs are as follows:

The Steelholt Realms - Fine warriors and classic 'kings and knights' civ.
The Zunic Empire - Aztec-like realm, with an emphasis on exploration.
The Pretoran Republic - Similar to the Roman Empire.
    The Valkan Kingdom - Viking-type, hard-as-nails warriors.
The Baronic Council - Sort of medieval-American merchants.
Asari Sultanate - The essential Eastern-style kingdom of any fantasy world.
The Tundran Empire - Icy warriors and rather tough too.

    The object of the game?
*Conquer all in a great crusade.
*Or unite the world in peace and profit.
Don't forget to build a mighty empire along the way!

    Here are the units:

I must give my thanks to fairline for his awe-inspiring units that you can see here...

When making scens, I like to use the best, and without doubt - He makes the Best!

And not any less grateful am I to those other masters of the unit-craft,
Favouredflight, Bebro, Erwan and GR Fullman-Hall!

          @Arthedain:
          My pleasure, old chap!

          @Cyrion:

This one follows a similar path a CIV2 standard game.
But has extra ancient/medieval/magic/science techs. The tree reaches a circa-1700s level of development.

The units are generic for all civs, but some specials can be gained via events too.

This makes for a varied challenge - Some civs may have extra techs units at the outset too.

This is depending on thier culture style...

Magic will play an important part, as will naval fleets, etc.
There will be a nuke unit too, but at the end of the magic tech path...

Terrains may feature some special squares, but not many.

Many improvements have been edited to suit the scenario world...
Including magical items/wonders that give big advantages to the builder/owner....

          More to come!

            Damn!

Curt, you keep this up and you're gonna rival Stephan Haertel for the total number of scenarios produced.

                  As soon it is complete!
I reckon this one will be quite easy to prepare for a PBEM...

I really dig the chick with the large axe thing (kinda reminds me of a certain Sharon with the icepick). What I wanna know is: what's Her story?

That is one of Mr Fullman-Hall's cool units!

Any unit with the crown shield is an unbuildable 'royal' unit.
The different civs will be awarded one of these via events when certain techs or incidents occur.

The gal with the axe will be given to the Asari civ, as a rock-hard warrior princess -

And no, she won't be called Xena!

                        PS
Today I am working on the city.txt and pedia.txt...

Here is a playtest for those who are in the mood for some good old empire building!

                            Game files!

                            Sounds!

I will prepare a readme soon!
The game play follows the classic CIV2 route, but the emphasis
is to build a mighty fantasy empire and conquer the world!

Also, some techs may seem familiar, but there are no tanks for planes in this world!

Only wizards, pistolmen and Doomsday drones!

                            Any feedback welcome!
