  • Unit Visabillity When Fortified?

I've done a little studying now and haven't seen this addressed:

Is it possible to make a unit, who is fortified in a city, visible from outside the city? There is a "force field" graphic included with the X-COM scenario; I would like to use this for a fortified city-defensive unit, but have it visible from the main game play screen.

    Thanks!

I think that when you unsuccessfully attack a city (so you know who's in there) and afterwards right-click and move the cursor on it, you see the unit in the frame on the right.

No. The city graphic will overlay all others.

What you can do, which might actually be kind of cool, is if you used the tech masonry as a pre-requisite for the force field unit. Then make the walled city graphics appear as if they have force field amplifiers (or whatever). Now, if you draw the force field graphic and the walled city graphic together, then split them into a city graphic and a unit graphic they will appear to be a single graphic when the unit graphic pops up, when an enemy attacks your force field in a city with city walls.

It could look like the city walls are inert when not attacked and suddenly "come to life" when they attacked.

      Just a thought.
