  • Ideas for Redoing Vietnam Scenario

    Currently, I'm working on an Iraq War (and aftermath) scenario (discussion on that was on the thread 'Way to Work Trigger Needed,' strangely enough) and I'm in the planning stages of a near future North American scenario (featuring several seccessions; discussion on that is on the thread 'Flags Needed...Again,' again a misleading title), but, looking ahead, I'm gathering ideas for a redoing of many of my other scenarios, which admittedly were comparably low quality, except maybe my 'Late Cold War' one, which has to date received the most work taking it past the standard Civ2 default mode. The first one I've decided will be redone is my Vietnam War scenario, which didn't receive a single comment, even though I posted it twice (it must be truly abyssmal). I plan a thoroughly worked scenario this time, with custom terrain, units, wonders, and events that are fully developed. I plan to keep my initial idea of using railroads for the Ho Chi Minh Trail (though I'll need a better graphic there; I was using Moojr spaceways last time) and thus eliminate standard railroads, but somewhat increase the road multiplier. I'm looking here for ideas on events (I already plan the FWA forces arrival, an enforcement, if possible, of the 'no-fly, no-fire' policy in North Vietnam, spawning of Viet Cong in South Vietnam, the attempt at the McNamera Line, and the Tet Offensive), and other ideas, as well as good graphics (Southeast Asian cities, the aforementioned Ho Chi Minh Trail, Mekong Delta/Valley and Vietnamese Jungle terrain and proposed resources for them, NVA and ARVN Infantry, Navy SEAL's and Green Berets, and anything else one would think belongs in such a scenario). If anyone can help me with any of these things, please post a reply.

    @Patine

    Like the idea of the Vietnam-scenario very much!
    Maybe the chance to include some sounds of the
    60s and 70s?!

    A great link for jingles of Armed Forces Vietnam Network:

      Thanks for your vote of support. Do you know anyone with good graphics for some of the above things? And will those jingles actually convert to WAVE files? Thanks!

        @Patine

        There was a question about midi/wav some days before I think... I have a program called WaveRec to convert mp3 to wav.

        To convert waves to the Civ2-format go on your computer on the start menu bar and go to programs/accesories/multimedia and click on Sound Recorder.

        The format is 22,050 Hz, 8 bit Mono

        Click on open and search for the wav file you need to convert.

        Then click on Properties.

        On the next screen you click on Convert Now

        Then search for the wav format listed above hit ok and save.

        Units, hmmm have to search - made some US Navy ships by myself - maybe you find some at
