Planning a get together of Players

OK people alot of you have been looking at this and not many have provide us with their keen-insights (slighty sacastic?)

I'd really like to hear from everyone even those who are not gonna be able to make it. Right now as it stands we are 4 people with a posibility of a 5th. They are as follows:

and maybe
Jon

We'd love to have at least more then 8 people come over to play. Lets hear some questions or sugestions that you may have.

And just a fyi Detroit is not really bad and I live outside of the city.

The normal (not the small) map in the standard civ2 game sounds cool. We really should have at least a couple of ai's in the game to keep everyone "honest". I don't like playing in games where these guys have 40 or 50 cities all pretty much empty and undefended. With ai's, you can't "cheat" like that on city defense - because you never know when the ai will march into your cities if you don't defend them. Besides, they have nice tech to steal and they generally make things more interesting. 1 versus 1 is kind of boring, anyway. And also, only Civ2 wussies can't handle ai's!! lol

Dude I told you that you can't leave undefened cities and have those kind of numbers in 1x1x deity and you know that. This is a dual. The goal of the game is primarly military. But your idea is ok but I still don't like it.

If others have their sugestions put them up. There is one and Civ2 knows I didn't like it when we talked on the phone. Ask Joe how he is doing agaist me in the dual game of ours.

Im not for AI's - it uunbalancees the game. If I can get an AI near me and other don't I have a huge advantage - especially in 1x1x

just thinking off the top of my head - but it might be cool to make each day a different theme - one day could be OCC another could be duels another could be evryone who shows up in one big game

See people INPUT. Now we are getting some where. And Dylan no Tiger tickets but I do have passes to a toppless club by me!!!.....and I planned on giving them to anyone who comes and we all go out. Of course I'm not buying your drinks or your dances!!

Well. Heres my input. Or Hillbilly input as dank would say. The Duel part sounds good to me It should show the stronger player. An ai game would take longer to play also and we only have 3 days. And for me 12 hours or more will be on the road if i drive. Or maybe a little less for a civer from out of town. Having a play off would be fun like Dank and Deity suggested because the winner could would have braggin rights for a long time. But if there is less than 6 of us that can make it to the game...I suggest haveing one big game over the 3 days on a bigger map. Maybe a map bigger than the 100x100 the game allows. I have a map maker that makes up too 180x180 maps. Might be fun cussing each other from the room and offering trades verbaly to see how someone else will react lol. Just a suggestion. Or maybe play one big game with no trading tech with anyone. An alliance could leave one civ hangin out to dry though. Unless someone has a suggestion to keep things more even. Well.... Thats my input. Any way we do it it will be fun. Cant wait to play and meet evryone

I like ai's and don't feel they unbalance the game at all. Duels are cool and i am assuming raging hords? I think a small map would be super because it would be a quicker game and we only have 3 nights to play (or days) Please email with anything you want me to bring. It will take around 5 hrs to get to your house so i can pack meats...ect in a cooler. Anyway we do it we all will have a great time

Well since we are only 5 right now the vote stands as follows:

2 for ai
3 for no ai

If more people want your way (Jon and Civ2) then I'll cocede to you. But I will say if it is that way then I'm almost for a 5 way or more depending how it works. DeityDudes and mine idea rest mainly on having at least 8 players so if we end up with lets say only 7 then I would totally consider just a 7 way.

Only Civ2 would come up with a good enough reason to have his vote counted twice and only I would find a reason to tell him he was wrong!!!.......lol.....Man can't believe it that we are only 5 still. Also DeityDude has come up with a good idea to call our little get together. I'll let him explain when he can.

Well another day has past and still we are only 5. DeityDude and I realize that 2 months is pretty much short notice for some but come on people!!! I thought we would at least get 10 people geeked up on this idea of ours!

As it is looking now we will just make it 3 days of civ playing. No "play-offs" this time. We hope to make this a yearly event. So if you could make it next year would ya?
