Planning a get together of Players

Hey people DeityDude and I are planning to get together with other civ players and have a whole 3 day weekend to play Civ!! We are tenative planning a whole 3 day play-off basically but before we get to far into it we would like to see people's interest in attending this.

We are planning to hold it on August 27-29. I know that some of you would have to take that Friday off but I believe that it would be well worth the vaction days! I have a big house and I may have access to a bigger house that people can stay at and where we can play, either way we can fit alot of people in either mine or the other house. I'm going to provide the computers and network them all togther. I am also checking into getting a server together for this.

Since this is only 2 months to go and I guess this kind of short notice. We could use other peoples help in this also.

I and DeityDude live in the Detroit area. We know some Civ players from MI that will be here for sure and so far 1 maybe 2 more from IN. So I know there are alot more of you in the tri-state area out there. Or even further if you don't mind the drive.

We will ask for some donations but mainly bring some food to grill and whatever your other "things" may be! So go ahead and post your thoughts or get ahold of DeityDude with icq 157-329-419

Come on people I know people are looking at this. I must assume that they don't live any where in Ohio, Indiana or Michigan but some of do know of people that might. We'd really like to pull this all of and I know we could with your help. So spread the word to others and lets make this a yearly event. Also I'd like to add that the server idea would include a "Zone" style site where we can meet and start up a game. So I'd like to see your input on this also. Thanks guys lets do this!!!!

While I live in Chicago, and can't really consider making the trip because of family obligations... I would suggest people near by give it some consideration. I hosted a civ week, and Berz, War4ever, rah, JRabbit and I had a blast. We had the computers set up and just played a ton of Civ... (when we weren't playing golf) It sure beats the heck out of King Chat when you yell across the room instead.

I hope you get a lot of people, and enjoy it as much as we did.

Sounds like fun, but I'm a Marylander now, so I doubt I'd be able to make it. I'll be back in Michigan next month for a bit, but usually on my vacation back to the Greak Lakes state I want to spend it visiting friends and family.

Although I will spread the word to two of my friends back home who may be interested in coming for it. Buddy is off teather now, so he should (in theory) be able to make it. Brandon is unemployed now, so he should (in theory) be able to make it too.

we will be playing duals only in the "play-off" parts of it unless someone comes up with a really good reason to have ai in the game
med. map (once again tell me why not we shouldn't)
1 restart for each person before 3000bc (see above)
Random map (once again see above)
Turned base-no sim (look up)
play your turns fast

Now add or change or come up with something else that you think we need.

Also I will be giving you more of the stuff we have come up with but I will tell you all one thing. We are planning a pig roast on the last day!!! So get involved!

I know the pig roast was my idea. I hope u dont think that means I have any idea where to find a pig or how to roast it. Well anyways I've got awhile to research LOL.

And its a good thing Zylka is coming with the crack, not that anyone we know would want it. But seriously what would a Detroit thread be without a reference to murder, crack or a good riot.

Now come on just because we passed up New York in murders does not mean that it's a bad place . And why bring your own crack? When you can just cross 8-mile for fresh crack.....lol......Just kidding guys. I live outside of the city in Ferndale MI if anyone wants to map quest to my town.
