I'm Size 9 in 600BC. Science always maxed at 70% and celebrating in Monarchy with as many Scientists as possible without losing the celebration. Techs at 8 turns.
The good thing about Monarchy over Rep is troops away from home of course.
From the map I have my ally Ljube has two whales and Iron; and Makeo has two fish and Silk but can't see all the squares yet... not seen Dylan's spot.
Remind me about hidden specials Rah. How do you know they are there?

Though I am not Rah, I think I can answer this ....Specials are every 8 squares horizontaly. Therefore if there is a special square, 8 squares away (to the right or left) should be another special. The two exceptions are when the square is in the ocean not accessible by land, and when the square is Grassland and therefore a hidden special which can be converted to a special (by Mining for instance).
p.s. I think I overanswered your question deity, but the answer you were looking for is in there....honest
Edit: Or for a graphic description (taken from the Great Library) go to this link Info on Specials from CFC.
Or if you want a specialised programme that is going to do the calculations for you, I can send you Scuse Gitt's hut finder. This software shows the locations of all huts and all specials including hidden ones.
Well, SparrowHawk provided the best answer and ljcvetko provided the easiest answer. Before hutfinder, Ming and I used grid paper and charted the pattern from the map editor. Once you identified two (hut four patterns) you could predict all hut and special locations. If you study a world using the map editor, you can quickly memorize about 80 % of the pattern.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The memorising is not that hard, but you will find you will make the most mistakes thinking you have a four pattern when it's really just a three pattern. You'll mine what you think is a hidden special but just end up with a plain forrest. If you limit yourself to doing it on non-shielded river squares, even if you guess wrong, you'll benefit.

We started another one. Four players OCC, two teams. Zylka and deity against Makeo and me.
Zylka surprised us all with an early colossus, but my very strong position (four specials and a river) made a difference very soon as I constructed Copernicus and Newton and also Shakespeare. Makeo built the Great Library and sent a dozen of caravans my way, so we're pretty much in control. Most of the techs I discover are white.
