    My 2 cents worth:

IIRC, solar plants seem to reduce the negative effect pollution has on scoring. For example, 5 polluted squares leads to a -50 on your score. Each solar plant built reduces this penalty by 10. (I discovered this a while back in ToT, when trying to count the polluted squares for cleanup by checking my score in-game)

A quick fix for your huge cities starved by global warming is to send food caravans back and forth between pairs of them. This has the effect of half filling the food box, and buys you time during the clean up.

I had a couple other pennies to add, but I think they fell and rolled under the desk.

I'm not sure whether or not to be proud of this, but ...

In all my time of Civ playing, I have never encountered Global Warming.

      Just thought I'd mention that.

Except for tests, I've not seen global warming in my games either. Maybe, Stu, we are not trying hard enough.

I don't use nukes, and the only time I've seen it is scenarios and MP.

I tip my hat to you guys. I wish I could say I'd never seen it either. But at least I think I can say I haven't seen it since I started playing deity.

I induced it in Civ 1, but had never yet had so much as a warning in Civ 2 - until the Lazy game.

Maybe for ToT, but I don't think so for classic -- in a recent game I played (GOTM 37 at Cfc) I was checking the score every turn in the late game -- a skull on the horizon was a fast -10 even with a few SP's in my portfolio. No sun, however, and with the SP's and complete clean up the trace of sun earlier seen had vanished.

Didn't check the final score (no skulls, so no need to check) so I can't verify that part of the conclusion.

Hey, I'd like to keep the strategy forum open. I'm kind of attached to it. Let's put interesting questions like this one there, so people will keep using it, OK?

                    debeest,

All the +1s, crossposts are cool and all, but, you could get more results by contacting the thread starter and have them ask.

I'm the thread starter. Could somebody please arrange whatever needs to be done to avoid it from being lost from sight as suggested - I'm new to this!

My sincerest and most obsequious apologies to all who felt that I spammed. I assure you, I have no interest in +1's -- settler, warrior, prince, schmince. I posted rather than PMing because my message wasn't intended just for the specific thread starters, but for all posters who might post strategic questions here rather than in strategy. I didn't even mean to imply that it was wrong to post these inquiries here, but rather, just that I'd like to see the strategy forum kept active.
