      • I like deity's suggestion of Apollo's being the possible starting time for the chance of it to go off.

            • Probably tweak those stats up a bit. Those UFOS look comparable to a stealth bomber. Maybe give it a Helicopter flag (if you haven't already). Plus thats 576 units now, probably gonna be a lot more by the time apollos gets built. Better quality too.

              So i guess we'll have to see when we get closer to it. Though by tieing it to a wonder we then know exactly when the invasion will happen and can plan for it. Looses the element of surprize.

              "Ok everyone, I'm about to build the wonder."
              "No wait, just give me another 2 turns, gotta fortify stuff."

              As if we could predict when the aliens would come.

              Though with all that being said, I think the starting forces is appropriate. Not a threat of world domination right away. But enough to take a chunk and hold it. Which is where the real danger lies, which is the reinforcements from space. Nothing too huge, but maybe a force a tenth of the above size every 5 turns or so.

              3 Armor
              5 Infantry

              So it'll be important for us to build the spaceship to cut off the reinforcements.

              Hmm, Apollo is probably the best option for starting the invasion. Makes logical sense, and does allow us to start on the ship right away. Hmm.

                • The UFO has the helicopter flag I think. I need to remember to add the "able to attack air" flag too. Don't let me forget! Its as good as a stealth bomber and stealth fighter put together that doesn't have to refuel.

                  I think its appropriate for the aliens to get a few nukes. They'd probably not get anymore since they'd want the climate to be okay for them as well. Its probably representative of the alien's main fleet bombarding a few targets before heading off to fight some more advanced threat than us.

                  Also, apollo is just the point at which I'd stop the game, so we could throw the event file in with the CHANCE of getting the alien attack. Probably 2, or 3 out of 100 would be the odds at that point per turn.

                  So, there would be a chance, although small, that someone could realisticly build the spaceship and win before the aliens come. So I might be the the middle of attempting to nuke deity's capital when the aliens attack.

                    • I'm not sure that all players are keen on this. It changes the psychology of the game. I'm in two minds but if EVERYONE is happy to introduce this changed ending scenario then I'm keen.

                      • umm you mean you not keen Diety !!!! seems everyone else that has posted here is fairly keen.

                        of course the fact that the aliens invade may not influence how some players play out the game.

                        but would definatly be interesting, providing the aliens target the largest civs first.

                        i havent seen yet , where these aliens will be coming from. I suggest aliens land in North america, China and southern Africa.

                          How about the mideast?

                          But I think Frank mentioned earlier that the alien player would get to pick where the aliens land as part of his strategy.
