Para los que no se enteraron, estuve 4 días en Londres del jueves al domingo pasado. Después de dos meses en Aburrilandia (o sea, Ginebra) solo me queda decir... WOW! No saben lo que es estar en una ciudad de verdad después de tanto tiempo en un vil rancho. Así que les paso estas fotos y las anécdotas del viaje:
1. Mi peregrinación a la Mecca...
El primer día estuvo nublado y feo y de hecho empezó a llover así que aparte del tour obligatorio en los autobuses rojos londinenses por todo el centro hice mi peregrinación a la Mecca de todo fanático militar: el Imperial War Museum. Que les puedo decir, es el mejor museo al que he ido en toda mi vida. A parte de un sin numero de exposiciones, había una trinchera virtual que hasta retumbaba con sonidos de explosiones.

2. Londres de noche
Después de como 5 horas en el museo (en serio!) nada como un paseo por el corazón de Londres de noche. El lugar: Picadilly Circus, la calle Regent y Leicester Square que es donde están todos los antros (lastima que no tenia ni ropa ni dinero ni con quien ir... ni modo para la próxima)

3. Big Ben
Al día siguiente ocurrió un milagro: Un día bonito en Londres! Sin una sola nube y con un solazo que ni quien lo creyera (claro, con bastante frío) así que fue hora de sacar la cámara y dar un paseo por la ciudad. La primera parada fue, por supuesto, Big Ben y el Parlamento. Me quedé sin palabras, es un edificio esplendoroso que solo teniéndolo enfrente se puede apreciar que tan increíble es. Un detalle gótico que ninguna foto ni ninguna película le hará justicia. Tienen que verlo en persona. En frente la Abadía de Westminister donde en el jardín tenían el Field of Remembrance" con veteranos de las guerras haciendo un homenaje a los muertos. Triste ver tantas cruces que decían "Iraq"...

4. Whitehall y Buckingham Palace
Subiendo por la calle de Whitehall se encuentran todos los edificios de gobierno. La calle mas famosa, Downing St. es donde está la oficina del Primer Ministro, claro que super-defendida por rejas y policías. Mas adelante por el viejo edificio de la Marina hubo un cambio de guardia de soldados de la Queen's Own Guards montados, y luego pasando por Buckingham Palace me tocó de pura suerte ver otro cambio de guardias, bastante esplendoroso y con los Scottish Guards en sus falditas (jajajaja) tocando.

5. Picadilly de día
Otra vez Picadilly pero de día, también pasando por Trafalgar Square donde esta la estatua al almirante Nelson.

6. Tower Bridge
Antes de que terminara tan bello día, un viaje al famoso Tower Bridge. Ya no me dio tiempo de conocer la Torre de Londres que está cruzando el río, ni modo, para la próxima. Al lado del puente había un crucero de la 2a guerra mundial hecho museo.

7. We Will Rock You!
Ningún viaje a Londres es completo sin una ida al "theatre". Me tocó la fortuna de ir a ver "We Will Rock You", una obra basada en la música de Queen y que ha recibido críticas buenísimas. Resumen: en el año 2300 (un futuro bastante Orwelliano) la música en vivo ha sido prohibida y lo único que se escucha es música pre-fabricada hecha con pura computadora (o sea, N'Sync, Jeans y demás mierda). Un chavo llamado "Galileo Figaro" conoce a una chava a quien apoda "Scaramouche" ambos bastante diferentes del estereotipo (imagínense un futuro de fresas Poblanos todos vestidos igual y escuchando Mercurio jajaja) y deciden rebelarse para revivir el rock con la "resistencia" que vive escondida de la policía. Excelente la obra, chistosísima y con buenos chingadazos al estado patético de la música actual y por supuesto con mas de 20 canciones de Queen. Obviamente no se puede tomar fotos de la obra, pero les mando una de la entrada del teatro que prácticamente es el nuevo monumento a Freddy Mercury:

8. Canary Wharf
Quedando poco tiempo (y con otro día maravilloso) creí que posiblemente habría un observatorio en el edificio mas alto de Londres, pero lastima quedé decepcionado. Además como era domingo no había mucha gente en esto que es el mas nuevo distrito comercial de la ciudad (construido sobre viejos muelles abandonados)

9. El Calabozo
Ultimo día y tenía que aprovechar el boleto al London Dungeon, un museo interactivo con todas las cosas mas horripilantes posibles (¡una exposición con ratas, wow!). Torturas, mutilaciones, un paseo por un calabozo londinense, un tour de las victimas de Jack the Ripper (con todo y cuerpos mutilados). Bastante... interesante! (y si no quieren hacer guacala, mejor no vean las fotos)

10. Buscando chamba
Como todo buen economista, fue necesario conocer The City, lo que originalmente fue la ciudad de Londres y que después se volvió el corazón financiero del mundo. Fui a ver si podía conseguir chamba en el Banco de Inglaterra, en el Royal Exchange (la bolsa de valores) y en el Lloyd's of London pero lastima, era domingo y nadie me atendió...

11. Mira, es Bush!
Y para terminar este arduo viaje, Madamme Tussaud's, el famoso museo de cera. Está bastante interesante aunque creo que no vale el precio (el equivalente a 400 pesos la entrada aunque yo ya tenia boletos de mitad de precio). En fin, hay de todo, desde líderes mundiales hasta estrellas de cine, asesinos en serie etc. Algunos estaban realmente creíbles, particularmente el de Castro:

- Kylie Minogue (lastima que solo era de cera... )

C'est fini!
Pues si, esto es todo, en total tomé mas de 200 fotos, estas solo son las mejorcitas, ojalá si no conocen Londres, algún día lo hagan (antes de que Al Qaeda lo vaya a bombardear).
Como tal vez podran darse cuenta hay muchas mas fotos que subi pero que no he "linkeado" pero pueden probar con los numeros de las fotos son como 120 fotos las que subi.

1. Mi peregrinación a la Mecca...

2. Londres de noche

4. Whitehall y Buckingham Palace
Subiendo por la calle de Whitehall se encuentran todos los edificios de gobierno. La calle mas famosa, Downing St. es donde está la oficina del Primer Ministro, claro que super-defendida por rejas y policías. Quedando poco tiempo (y con otro día maravilloso) creí que posiblemente habría un observatorio en el edificio mas alto de Londres, pero lastima quedé decepcionado. Además como era domingo no había mucha gente en esto que es el mas nuevo distrito comercial de la ciudad (construido sobre viejos muelles abandonados)
