Should I get up an A/C carrier, if so, Gunships or planes (fighters or bombers?)

they only carry 3 air units though...

I am building up a small 9-1-1 Force
I will have a Destroyer and 1 transport next turn along with an Aircraft carrier

Now, I am also building fighters to send as you suggested to the deck for protection

other transports to follow
