The Pitboss program asks you to enter the name of an email server that it can use to send out notifications and, if needed, a username and password to use with that email server. It appears that the protocol Civ4 uses to log into an email server doesn't work with the email server I initially asked Keygen to use, so I asked him to change the settings to use a different server, one which does not require a username and password but instead "trusts" the Pitboss computer based on its IP address. This should allow email notifications of new turns to be sent successfully.

On another note, the backup process failed again last night and caused the server to fail to come back up. If I can't solve this problem in the next hour or two, I am going to disable the automatic backups and do them manually until I can figure out what's going on, because I don't want the server to be down half of the day every day .

Yeah, I apologize for the trouble. The server is down right now because I am trying to figure out what's going wrong with the nightly backup procedure and fix it. I don't believe that the turn timer counts down during this downtime (as the VM running Pitboss is in suspend mode), so we shouldn't be losing play time.

Again, if I cannot get this fixed in the next hour or two, I will simply turn off the automatic backups and do them manually until I can find out why they are not bringing the system back up upon their completion.

The server is now back up and running. There are approximately 37 hours left this turn.

That's interesting. I got on and played two turns in a row.

I've not received any email notification but I check the game once a day as a matter of course.

              Turn 4 (3880 BC) played.

Soltz, that is because you were the last to play the previous turn thus able to play the next turn as well

I have received an email notification about a new turn available

It works but I get no recipient in the from field, probably because I cleared the email address field in PitBoss but not sure. I will investigate this soon, when I'll have the time to...

I still have not received an email notification. I also didn't see how to cancel or erase my password.

BTW I have played my next turn. Nothing much to report from the American perspective.

                      Hi,

You don't have to do anything to your password; that was only Keygen who had to change something.

If you haven't received any email notifications, have you entered your email address in civ4? If you log in to the Pitboss server and go to the civ menu, there should be an option called "Your Details". In there, there is a place where you can enter your email address. Once you have done this, the server should send you an email every time a new turn is available for play.

About remote desktop connection, when I run it in full screen it doesn't mess up my toolbar. I only experience problems when not in full screen
