reli-building rush: exactly! 6 cities with +4g and +4b, some of them with multipliers... that's 30-35 gold and beakers extra... not too shabby

well done on your successful attack. i'm surprised how little defence hannibal must have! after all, ragnar's capital is protected by 13 units and two other border cities each by 6.... no chance of me attacking anything pre-riflemen.

His defenses are sufficient, but so is my army. You scouted around so you know the geography, there's only one city on my side of the sea, and on the other end I can put defensive positions in the jungle.
Btw, I don't have a city of him yet, but next turn I can take it.

ah, that city... yeah, it's pretty isolated, should be possible to capture. and now i know why i saw your swordsmen and catapults there

on my continent it's completely different. ragnar and i share a border which is more or less east--west. he has 3 cities just at the border and i have two with two more to follow. i have wanted to settle there long time ago but not enough defences yet. maybe grenadiers (upgraded longbows) or riflemen will do the job

unlike our first game i don't have horsies and i don't have excess resources to buy them. so cavalry isn't an option.
