          • So, does anyone still want to finish this game? It's going to take about 3 years at this rate, and every time I get my turn, I can't remember what's going on.

It is consistently stuck on Doug's turn. I really don't want to create any enemies (in real life, not the game), nor do I want anyone to leave the game, but we should easily be doing a turn a day...

Yes, and I understand that's why you're in a huge number of games. I'm only in a few, and my intention is to be playing, not waiting. My other games always get through a turn a day, and sometimes a dozen turns on the weekends. This game could easily be going that fast. When Doug plays his turn, it gets back around to him really quickly. If he could then play his next turn atleast within 24 hours, we would have a very nice pace.

                  I will say this:

                  I play because I love gaming, I am 46 almost 47 (On June 13)

I do play in a lot because of life gets into peoples way and things stall.

On March 13 2006 at 0820 am I was minding my business and while stopped at a traffic light got rear ended. The man was doing 45-55, he totalled my F150 Super Crew Cab. Me and my passeneger are both out ofwork. The driver was high on Cocaine.

Me I have been hurting so baddly, Im waiting to hear the date for my surgery on my back. I will miss 4-5 months of work. His fault, still, it reflects on my professional career.

I am on Valium,Demerol.Phenagrym (anti nausea because pain is so severe), I have tried Vicodin,Percocet and a bunch of other things which do me no good.

My point about this is very simple.

Things happen to the most dedicated players.

Paddy the Scot whom I have the utmost respect for, me and him talk a lot, about games and about life.

Between me and him possibly involved in 100 games(conservative) between Alpha Centaurai,Call To Power,CIVIII Conquests and CIVIV, demo games, successon games.

Just advice, ask him to try to speed up, heck, you and I can start as many games as you like.

I feel for you and want to share that things happen but we are a Familyt at Apolyton and should thgusly approach all matter in this way.

I mean no disrespect to you nor do I mean any about anyone else holding games up.

Please have Patience my friend, Please!

                    • Personally I dont mind waiting. I would prefer not to but these things happen. I would jsut prefer to know when people are stuggling with things i.e. internet connection. Obviuosly some times we cant let people know but the more info the better.

Hope you get your operation soon grandpa!

                      • You should be more careful about facts before posting rants.

With RARE exception, I play my turn every morning before I leave for work. I'd be happy to play another turn in the evening, but it almost never shows back up until the morning.

I have not had a turn in the mailbox since I sent out a turn on the weekend, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not the type to immediately go and complain about that. But if it arrives, I will play it.

You don't do anything to gain friends or influcence people by such ranting, especially when your FACTS ARE WRONG.

EDIT: I last received a turn on 4/23, a day upon which I got two turns, one morning, one afternoon. I sent out a turn right away. So that makes three days it has hung fire. It still is not in my mailbox...
I play Europa Universalis II; I dabble in everything else.

                          • For instance, right now, according to the facts I have, you received your turn 3 days ago, but now, 3 days later, you say you never got it. Why, I ask, if you're so diligent about checking for turns in the morning and evening, aren't you letting us know that you never received the turn after seeing that George has posted? It is a players responsibility to keep an eye on the thread, not just sit for days wondering why no turn is coming.

I wouldn't call this a rant. I'm just trying to point out that with George's turns often sent in the middle of the night, US time, just a few hours later you should have noticed whether or not you're supposed to have a turn to play, not 3 days later. I'm not trying to make enemies, I'm just trying to decrease all the unnecessary delays, and there's no nice way of bringing them up without sounding like a rant.

                              Excellent Points.

Play your turn, send your saved turn and then post about the turn, if you choose a battle report or whatever then we know where it is or shouold be.
                              Ok lets mobe forward folks

I agree, let's forget about the bickering and move on, with everyone checking the thread and posting when their turn is sent. It takes very little extra effort to post a message and even less effort to check for new posts when you subscribe to it. If we all do this, then I think this group of people could easily consistenly get through a turn every 1-2 days.
