Welcome shifty.

To both you and loveaddict, I am asking if you know what you are committing to. A pitboss game will probably last for a year, or more. With a 24 hour turn timer, you will be expected to log in and play your turn at least once a day. It is OK to miss the occasional turn, but if you are absent for a long stretch, the admin, being sabre, will turn your civ over to the AI to speed the game up.

In pitboss, the turn ends and rolls when all have played. So if one player is continually missing his turn, it makes the game longer than in needs to be.

You may already be aware of this, but I would like to confirm it with you before we start.

I was in Riga back in 1992, the old town is beautiful but the rest was pretty worn down. There's some pics in the picture thread iirc. Might have to go there again and compare and maybe get a latvian tour guide?

as for the game, i propose the following:

* i'd like to start this game this year. i can switch it off for a few days over xmas/new year if requested by the majority, but i guess nowadays everybody has access most of the time.

* priority for those who played in the Aegean game (provided they answer within some time), followed by the new Latvians, followed by AI (the latter are not bad as they tend to be less influenceable for ganging-up)

* low tolerance for players who do not play reliably. if you leave, either find a temporary replacement or don't. just make sure you inform the other players via the thread that is to be created. especially in the early phases of the game it's annoying if theoretically quick turns take those 28 hours.

* i only have an average upsteam bandwidth, so please do not try to use it up too much. for outages, make sure to email sabrewolfACS{at}gmail{dot}com. the thread notifications are not most reliable and as i play within the same subnet i might not notice problems _outside_ my network.

now, for the definition of the game setup:

GENERAL
- BTS game, latest patch.
- turn timer 24 hours (effectively is 28 hours)
- game size depending on map type and number of players.
- tech brokering off.
- difficulty: regent. this makes housekeeping more challenging. can be tuned down to prince if there are AIs around.
- do we want to have a topic? eg. always war / always peace? islands style? battleground arena? cold worlds, foresty world?

WORLD & CIVS

- map style: depends on topic. if no special topic, what should it be? random? continents? any special requests? i quite like some distance between the starting locations, especially if i start next to nasty rushers.
- civs: do we want a topic-based one (eg. only ancient civs), do we allow multiple of the same civs or leaders (fair, but confusing)
