E_T has an idea that, frankly, I'm not too keen about.

Sure, it would give us something to do, while we wait for the patch.
You know, we could also do something else to make it interesting. We could kind of make it a semi-succession game. Have, at certain turn numbers, 20, 40, etc, 2 of the "teams" are replaced with 2 of the other teams that haven't played yet.
For instance:
C1 to C4 are the civ slots
Start:
C1 - GS
C2 - Horde
C3 - Sarantium
C4 - Space (I guess this is Alpha Centauri)
Waiting - Banana, Merc, Vox
On turn 20 - 2 playeing teams randomly chosen to be replaced by randomly chosen waiting teams.
Example, GS & Sarantium replaced by Merc & Vox. Coinflip (or RPS) of places one infront of other for replacement queue.
C1 - Vox (replaced by random chance)
C2 - Horde
C3 - Merc
C4 - Space
Waiting - 1st Banana, 2nd Sarantium (by coin/RPS), 3rd GS.
On Turn 40 - Horde & Space get cycled out, with coin for who gets what slot and where in wait Queue.
This might be better to do with shorter turn intervals. An interesting succession concept that can keep everyone interested. Plus, you don't get attached too closely to any Civ.
Allows you to be flexible. We can even have posted reports, but they would be delayed by 1 player shift round.

I'd rather not take a chance on continents. Highland?
Medieval start? How about classic (ancient)? Or are the later starts better for team games?
