  • Civ 4 PBEM Enhanced

Note: This game is now called Civ4 Realpolitik.

Hello everyone. Its been a long time since I've been here....

Anyways, I'm setting up a Civ 4 PTBS... it will feature Civs with a Leader, Vice Leader & 8 specialised advisors. Through a unique voting system these 10 will control the Civ... hoping to compete with or even dominate over rival Civs, and ensure they do well enough to keep their position, since their are elections regularly.

It's personal gain vs. your civilisation's gain... true politics.

Add backbenchers, members of a Civ who don't have a Top 10 position (and no doubt want yours!), add the ability for double agents and spying on other civs... stage coups and overthrow the Government? Look out though, you may end up with a Civ-2 style civil war.

The game is very close to reaching it's starting quota, and the game has been open for recruitment for only 3 weeks.... the folks at Civfanatics are going to experience an amazing new experience, fluid in it's movements, involved, intruiging... it'll be a shame if any of you miss on this from the get-go.

Oops, the link, check it out here..

Civ4 REALPOLITIK Note: The games name has been changed, since it will no longer be played on a PBEM Format. A multiplayer game with a huge difference. In some ways similiar to the Democracy game, but with a fair amount of unique elements to make it a completely different experience. Game...

        Civ 4 Realpolitik

The game is actually going to run on PTBS, Succession Turns, on a 48 hour timer.

I don't think we'll have any problem with 'maintaining'.

I sent a private message on CivFanatics to all registered members, of the 30 we have (minus myself)... i have 19 read reciepts in 4 hours... 11 left.. so the members we have, I hope, are the type to regularly be around.

P.S. The game's name is changing, due to the PTBS format.. with most of the votes in, the leader with 65% of the vote is...

        Civ 4 Realpolitik.

The games rules should be released tomorrow. Also, we will be getting good coverage and use of private forums on evo-games.net

Only 1 reply here? You guys scared us CivFanatic'ers are going to win??? *evil laugh*

What you're describing is a particularly set up DG, essentially ... Speaking of DGs, we have one up and running here
<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

            Civ4 Realpolitik

Well I prefer not to be likened to Democracy.... but it's inevitable isn't it?

I thought of this game long before I ever saw the Democracy concept. It's only when I saw the Democracy had a lot of interests and it's own forum sections that I decided to dust off my old idea.

I believe it's alot more structured than Democracy, with alot more emphasis on playing the game instead of creating rules, constitutions, amendments... sounds like too much red tape.

Well, we have 32 interested souls.. and we need 40. I was truly hoping to get some interest from some non-fanatics players.... but so far none.... any takers?

Note: Due to the launch of PTBS, the name of this concept has been changed to Civ4 Realpolitik, and it being hosted on evogames.

Note: Game is now called Civ4 REALPOLITIK.. and is played via PTBS, not PBEM

So far so good. Surprisingly, we have a mix of democracy, multiplayer and non-multiplayer players on board... and across the board there is definately a buzz about the game.

We're up to turn 5, 2000BC (Classical start).. and of course this game in a sense is a beta. So it's important to see if it has staying power..

Hence the hope that more players will join.. so each Civ has more than the prerequisite 8 players in the Governing Body.. and these 'backbenchers' will turn the attention of competition away slightly from civ-against-civ, towards politician vs politician.

All in all, we're hoping for a speedy and exciting game so that by the time Realpolitik 2 comes around, there will be intense competition for Governing Body positions right from the get-go.

Thanks for your interest, by the way!
