I've updated my cIV to 1.08 patch two days ago. This is the patch they pulled back after releasing for two or three hours.

I understand 1.09 is available now...however, many problems are being reported with it. I'm hesitant to update to 1.09...however, I cannot load the PBEM save with my system now.

Give me a day or two to look at this and see if I can figure it out.

Shogun- I've been told the only difference with 109 over 108 is a fix to online MP, and Firaxis has said patching over 108 is fine. In the worst case scenario, un and reinstalling CIV takes me less than 15 min on a P4 1.8, and will probaly take you less time than anything else with more promise of fixing any problems...

Not loading older saves isn't supposed to be a problem, although I've already seen a few PBEM problems involving this mentioned...

so, if one didn't experience any problems with v1.08 then v1.09 should be okay? My experience with v1.08 has been mostly problem free.

Thanks for clarifying the install v1.09 over v1.08 -- i've read some people saying it's necessary to uninstall completely and reinstall. I'm glad that isn't the case.

Loading old PBEM saves is apparently a problem for me -- older SP games seem okay. None of my v1.00 PBEM saves will load

Ah, yes just remembered that password encryption has been added since v100. That would make it necessary to not allow old saves because that would allow a loophole into the game. I'll post this in another thread to try and verify...
