My dad stays with us every Monday and Tuesday (he works at the same company as me, but lives in Richmond). I just overhead a long conversation between my wife and dad about the messy dorm room from when I was back in college. My wife counters with my civ2 hermit apartment that was so messy.... yeah, I stayed in my office when they were discussing this.

So, I guess you are right.

I'll be ready to try the cIV PBEM in a few minutes...

      Laptop specs:

      Intel Pentium M 1.6 gigahertz
      512 megs of RAM
nVidia GeForce4 4200 Go I think it only has 64 meg of RAM

I just ran the test at srtest.com and found that the video card fails miserably. I'm not sure if the test is legitimate. It says I don't have any video ram and I'm sure i have 64 megs on the card.

sent back to you. I can't get SMTP in game emailing to work.

I was able to enter my information, but it failed to send. I tried about 10 times. So I emailed....

can you use my gmail address for this? That's how I have it set in the game, not that it's working yet...

I don't know - as far as I can tell, nothing has changed. I had entered the MSN address with no SMTP server.

It still shows up with the MSN address and my SMTP server... clearly a couple teensy bugs to be worked out. Try again and put in your server too. Also post it in case I need to enter it for you.

BTW, I popped a goodie hut and got a scout! Woo hoo! Big timing it now! I'm tempted to run the warrior back into Timbuktu and just explore with the scout.

However, I'm sticking to the plan of warrior-worker-?duh, i dunno? I changed the resource square to finish the worker faster. I'm so indecisive.

anyway - back to you, dude!

            Continental is more "Civ Like"

            Terran is more realistic.

I have NOT played a continental map, but I have played a terran map and I love terran maps.

Look at the top of the forum. They have a web based map guide posted

We need to get Beta going on a 2 vs 2.

Or do you guys have anyone else in mind to play?

that could be interesting.... I know so little of the game that I want some time to play a game or two before getting into any competitive games.

Also, I'm honoring all my civ3-pbems -- even if others ultimately will not -- and I must take great care to not overbook myself. Easy to do when a new game is out.

Speaking of which -- do we just assume that the "Tribes of Babylon" is dead?

                  I'm up for a 2 on 2. I assume you mean a mini-Demo.

Or do you mean 4 different civs with locked alliances?

I can handle it... particularly since the CivIII PBEMs are languishing.

I think many of the civ3 pbems will die a horrible death.

Well, i shouldn't smilie a "shame" because some of them deserve to die

Yeah. I was recruited into the Sci101 game to replace somebody - and then dinged because I thought that I sent the save but hadn't. So I sent the save...

That was like two weeks ago or something.

It is fine with me if I don't have to swap my CivIV disk out anymore.

I use a "crack" version of the civ3 main executable. I don't think we are supposed to talk about this at Poly, but who's checking each thread?

Since I bought two copies of Civ3 and all the expansion packs, I'm hardly a software thief. There is a site that lists a fair number of games where you can download the main executable to disables the need for the program to check for the CD in the drive bay.

I specifically use this on my laptop, because I don't always have the media with me. I have no idea when/if they will have this available for cIV.

There's another program called Alcohol 120% which allows you to image an entire CD or DVD to your hard drive and run everything from there.

I feel this is my right and a "fair use" of the software. I never distribute and I always purchase the products. BTW, you can't download the entire program from these type of sites, just the main .exe file.

I'm too afraid of getting viruses to download something like that.
