continental won't be cool because inter-continental wars take too long and come too late. so i'd say either archipelago or (preferably) pangea-style.

      2) how about a large map?

      3) how about non-ancient start (the one after the first)?

      4) what is your civ choice? i'll book hatshepsut (egypt) this time around

      5) any special rule wishes?
      1. I would lean toward pangea this early in the learning curve

      2. Large is ok for the number of civs, elbow room to learn

      3. Hmmm. Not sure, it would speed some things up, though it might also invalidate some early strategies and or Civ strengths. Interesting idea to try though.

      4. Random

      5. Not yet.

        1. pangea

        2.

        3. i was just thinking... probably the first 3 religions would not be available, which imho is less desireable

        to all:
other please DO send you civ wish, password request, etc to me by sunday evening GMT. i'd like to get these ones running soon.

lets not do large. standard or even small?

im sure we'll get plenty of learning time in SP by the time the save comes around and matters.

6 people on standard is standard... we'll get it 4-6 cities each which is already not really much. small is just too small...

we could try quick game speed?

hey guys... i so far have not received information from all of you. in fact only from the fewest.

            please PM me asap:
            - the civ you want to play with
            - your email address
            - possibly password (from what i heard one needs to enter it in the beginning)

              civ: random
              email: sm at inethighway.com

passwd? if its like civ3, then it will ask us right? however i loaded up a pbem game and there was no option to set my password. set the game options, load game, play turn, and thats it. must be something i've missed?

if it works without: all the better

On the setup window, click on the icon to the left of each player- that brings up a box to change names, enter password, etc. After setup, any player can bring up the box by pressing Alt-D. This allows you to change your own name or password at any point. So the way to go IMO would be for the game starter to make up simple passwords and send them to each player- they can then change it to their own once they get the save...

ok, time's up... this has been delayed long enough. i'll get to it either friday or saturday evening.

                          however, there are some bugs:
                          - the "first player cannot trade"-bug ==> i must add at least one AI player. he could be on a higher difficulty level but alone. or in a regular team... all depends on how much space is left.
anybody who feels like playing together with the AI?

                          - the "decompress"-bug ==> not sure what to do here. sometimes just trying a second time works fine, but it's no guarantee.

sorry, i'm having some trouble figuring out how to set the first player to AI as the dropdown box converts disappears once the icon on the left has been clicked

in fact, after clicking that button i cannot change anything back to AI. any hints & help?

No promises here, but try making the first player a dummy human. Then either retire or disband their units. If retiring, the AI is supposed to automatically take over. If disbanding, there should just be an open area left on the map. Not sure how this affects game admin stuff tho...
