Instead of crushing those damn frenchies, he his using my funds and tech against you

I don't know if you're ready to play the thin red line to protect the frenchies, but I guess the fact you let them cross your border to attack the HRE may be the cause of this declaration of war.

Obviously Torino won't be the only town reclaimed back by Barbarossa next turn. Unless you have conscription and a cavalry force ready to counter-attack, your southernmost cities are doomed. There are massive armies of musketmen and grenadier heading SW.

Since he won't accept peace before 10 turns, maybe you could try to bribe one of his eastern neighbours to wage war against him.

Now I'm wondering if Barbarossa's armies in the South will head for Zurich(you) or Masillia(french) since they have reclaimed back Torino.

I would personnally go for Zurich, but who knows what the AI's doing

Also be aware that to give a challenge to my friend Matthias, I asked Peter the Great to pay him a visit. So do not expect him to crush Barbarossa too easily. Your diplomatic move will certainly decrease the pressure on your towns and improve your chances to ask for peace in 9 turns.
