I don't like the idea of AI partners. Too easy to get each others techs that we don't want given away. And each of us controlling 2 civs... 8 players would be a long game.

But, it doesn't really matter to me, just as long as it's not some weird off the wall setup. The normaler the better.

Hopefully though with no alliances we don't tend to slide back into our old alliances. To prevent that, I think I'll just have to be certain that at some point I'm attacking Krazy.

i've twice played with an AI and i don't remember him trading stuff around with other AIs... but of course it's possible the your AI would trade with me. on the other hand, it's seldom that i'll get a better deal from the AI than from you...

as for controlling 2 civs:
it doesn't take longer if we play them immediately after eachother. it's a matter of 2minutes vs. 3minutes

By length I meant the game may go on for a lot more turns, as there's twice as many civs trying to win.

I definitely don't want a permanent alliance with an AI. I don't see that that would add to the game really. I'd like to have some independent strong AI civs though.

aeb: ok, i get it... you mean we'll need bigger world sizes and therefore longer to finish. yes, that makes sence!

lumpy: yes, AI in there for sure! however the AI tend to be strong in the beginning and lose contact with time. the reason is that one does not trade with them that much because
a) they don't like trading cheaply and
b) they could trade stuff further.

so it's good to have strongish AI which will at least be competition over the first 100 turns
