I'm currently unable to open the file that Akulla sent me. It's telling me that:
The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed.

Now I havn't made any changes at all, so I don't know what the problem is. I've also had a weird problem ever since the beginning of the game that the only way I can play my turn is to open the actual save file while my Civ is exited (letting the save file load up Civ). Using the Load game within Civ has never ever even SEEN the filename, even though it can see all my other saved PBEM games that are saved in the same folder.

I don't know what to do, since I can't load the game.

Guys, I think it best that I resign from this game and you guys start a new one without me. I've been having annoyances and trouble loading this save file since the beginning, having to go to extroardinary lengths to get it to load.
I think I know why it's not loading right now, but it's something that'll be real difficult and annoying for me to get around. Also, since I won't be here for the entire week of the 12th through the 19th (I'll be on a cruise), I think it best if I resign.
The only thing that will make my difficulties go away might be when the official release of the next patch comes out sometime around the 15th of this month.
Let me know what you all want to do.

dunno. i consider 4 the minimum number of players for a fun game, really. also, being away for a week is not a big deal, it will happen all the time though off course it would be nice to get temp. replacement players then. (i would have trouble finding a replacement myself though...)
with the patch thing it would be 2 weeks. so what? (no guarantee that it would work then, though, if i got you right)
so if these are the only reasons for the offer...

on the other hand, if you WANT to leave, no hard feelings, its not like we invested much in this game yet

May seem overly simple, but I presume you have tried to reinstall the game from scratch, and then re-apply the patch?

My biggest problem is that my game when I am running it won't even see the save file in the list to load from (even though it sees every other save file for the other PBEMs I'm in). Almost like it doesn't recognize the file format.

The way I was doing it before this was I would run the actual file from the explorer window and it would launch Civ. The problem I'm having with that now, is that I am now involved in a beta test pitboss game with 11 people running the 1.55 patch. So I have both that and the 1.52 installed on the machine. And launching the save file itself, attempts to launch it using the 1.55 patch and not the 1.52 patch.
I'll play around with some things tonight after I get back from the super bowl party I'm going to and see what I can do.

I'll try to at least get the game loaded up on a laptop before I leave for my vactation on Sunday, so that you all can at least get in one more turn while I'm away for that week. Then we should hopefully be able to kick the game back in gear when I return on the 19th with us all upgrading to the 1.56 patch which should be out by that time.
