  • [PBEM] Pen versus Paintbrush

The pen is mighter than the sword, but is it mighter than the paintbrush? This is the age old question. A civilization built on words, literature, and books faces off against another based on imagery, color, and paintings -- who will emerge more influential?

Golden Bear, the masterful handler of the pen faces off against Shogun Gunner, the samurai painter. It's a clash of cultures -- and there can be only one king!

So, without any additional fanfare....it's time to kickoff

It's Persia (Golden Bear) as the writers and Japan (Shogun Gunner) as the painters.

I am confused... the save is for Cyrus. When I open it, GoldenBear is in the second slot but Cyrus is in the last slot.

          What am I playing?

What was wrong with the game start that I sent to you a couple days ago?

          I am very confused.

There must be something wrong then. It said "send to Cyrus" when I played the turn.

I can play it but I will be Cyrus and not GB. Is that your intention?

As I say, I am merely the tiniest particle floating across the vast acrimony that is Apolyton and I wish to garner no more bad karma.

[edit to remove sizeable rant about not restarting the unbalanced EoD. Kumbaya. Oooom. Ooooom.]

Can I just start one and try to get it right? Or do you need to be in first position?

                  Ooom.

as usual you found the molehill and you go about making a mountain

It is not my "intention" to do anything other than play a game. I played my turn and mailed the save off and if that means Cyrus is you, then yes. If you don't like this and want to change - I'm very willing to restart...again

EoD is a complete joke. If Beta wants to waste his time in a crippled game -- oh well. We can't help the crazy cannuck.

Ming is cool Clearly he's underappreciated by some. He doesn't deserve that crap BoH was handing him in their anger regarding the situation where THEIR TEAM WAS CAUGHT CHEATING. He was doing his job. He did us no particular favor. He only confirmed what I had suspected for some time. I wish I had spoken out sooner, but I didn't want to falsely accuse anyone.

Fortunately, you were the only one that read my rant.

It gets more and more difficult to suppress feelings about .... things.

Whatever you want. I think Cyrus is a pig and would never personally choose him but I'll play him if it will make you feel better. LOL.

I could play Cyrus and you could play Genghiz Planet and then we could both hate ourselves.

But I would find it a pain to deal with GoldenBear in the second position playing whatever civ you have given him.

As I say, I am but an instrument of fate. I was removed from manufacturing and put into R&D today without any choice of my own - after 19 years of making certain that customers actually received high quality products. Oooom Oooom.

You are a bundle of angst, nerves and melancholy! I don't want you to do anything in particular. And you can express whatever feelings you would like -- it doesn't bother me in the least.

Keeping something bottled up can drive one crazy. Apolyton is the perfect place to say whatever you want without much in the way of repercussion.

So, back to civ, I don't know why you think Cyrus is a pig, but okay, no problem. I'm not sure how you setup this latest version of Pen vs Paintbrush, but why don't I give a try tonight and send you a new save. What civ would you like? Any particular settings you like/dislike?

I don't want to surprise the grumpy bear.

So after that outburst, you are still going to play Cyrus????

Hard to track with you sometimes. You effectively mix outrage, sarcasm, and complex writing structure to keep people guessing to your true intentions. Brilliant.

Most of the time - I think I get it...sometimes, I'm not sure. But, it's all good -- you are a solid dude.

Okay, I get home and have a save in the inbox from Cyrus...but its to Hatshepsut. I think you designated each player "human" not "AI" for players 3 through 7. When I played the Hatshepsut's turn, then it asked me to send it to Kublia Khan. So....I don't think that's what you inteded, and I've setup the next game. It will be in your inbox shortly.
