historically the admin had to load the game pre-patch, save it without an admin password, then patch and load up again...- Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity

yes, but it's important that you remove the admin password before that save.
so:
1) load prepatch
2) remove admin PW
3) save
4) patch your game
5) load again
6) re-add admin PW if you desire
7) save + send- Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity
