  • The captain onboard the Inca destroyer was having a bad day. There had been a rather raucous birthday party the day before, and he wasn't quite up to maneuvering a ship. Last he had heard, there were some old Indian frigates in the waters, and he had duly charted a course around them rather than attack them, as he had been ordered. Orders were to go to the other side of them, to show them that the Capaco leadership was sincere in wanting peace. The heavy rain and thunder were not helping his headache.

    Somewhere behind him a mumbled voice was saying something about a sonar contact, but no visual contact was possible. It is hard to explain in English, but "sonar contact" in Incas sounds a lot like "your head looks like a llama's *******". The captain, still upset over the course of the previous evening's card game, turned around and immediately punched the sonar officer in the face, and was then standing over him and giving him a beating he 'deserved', repeatedly shouting "queens over aces, queens over aces, **** you, Paco!"

    Just as his final blow landed on Paco's poor face, the entire world seemed to shudder with the impact. Indeed, the ship seemed nearly to have been knocked off the water for a moment, and horrid crash resounded through the metal room. The captain stepped back, temporarily believing it was his blow that did it, and marveling at his own power, a sensation heightened by the looks of fear and surprise among the rest of the crew's faces.

    Slowly, though, it dawned on the captain that Paco hadn't been insulting his head, and in fact he did not now suddenly possess superpower punches. "Please let it just have been a fishing boat," the captain thought to himself as crewmen rushed out onto the deck below. The small fleet stopped in the water, now in the middle of the Indian navy.

    "Well, it is kind of hard to see those little old antique ships, you know..." he mentioned to his first officer, as he began to write his message to PacCom back in Capaco.

    • Justice or Revenge ...?

      Not a whisper was heard aboard The '1 of 3', so named because unlike other Warships of her design, she had been purchased as a 'trio' with a grant from Vladimir Dzudzenko, a wealthy investor from Moldavia. She was the first to be delivered and she was both terrible and beautiful, a marvel to behold. Her bow was sharper than any Turkish sailor had ever seen, and her engine sounded of a painful wailing followed by a low rumbling , akin to the sound of a short whale-song, followed by distant thunder.

      Captain Akarlii was in Command, and he was the first to open the sealed orders:

      General Santa-Enya located in Teotihua Canal... Protected by Mounted Regiments as well as Artillery units... Capture alive... By Any Means Necessary.

      The Marines, aboard Galleons, proceeded as ordered. Their mood was solemn. All aboard knew the mission, and words were surperfluous. Every man knew his duty. As one Marine passed another they would simply nod to each other, quietly murmuring "Remember the Alamo", to which the other would reply in kind "Remember the Alamo."

      By the time the Marines reached the Canal-port of Teotihua, men were shouting it to each other in place of normal communitcation. Men in line for Chow would say "Remember the Alamo" to the cook and point, and the cook would know exactly what to serve. "Remember the Alamo" was all anyone said...

      A Gunner wanting more ordinates loaded would simply shout "Remember the Alamo!" to an Armoury Officer who would call out "Remember the Alamo!" to a Gunner's mate, who would then load the Deck-Guns. And call they did, as the 1 of 3 let loose on the port of Teotihua with their guns.

      When the time to storm the Canal finally came, the Marines were so frenzied, that captain Akarlii worried that they would create another scandal. He was concerned that there would be a trap waiting for them at the Canal, as by now, Santa-Enya would have to be aware they were coming. If they were quick, they could arm the defenders of Santa Enya with Rifles and other advanced weaponry. This strike needed to be swift, bold, and precise. But how could he make it so? Landing next to the canal would expose his men to bombardment and heavy casualties. The Captain had much to consider.

      When the moment came, he took matters into his own hands. Mounting a horse assigned to the Cossack Marine Corps, the Captain turned towards the beach, and with his back to the men, he lifted his Rifle and screamed "Remember the Alamo!" to which the men responded with a thunderous "Remember the AlamoOooo!, in unison. Again the Captain lifted his Rifle into the air and called out "Remember the Alamo!" and again the Marines responded in kind. A third time the Captain chanted, and the Marines answered as before...

      Then, the Captain looked over his right shoulder, a barely perceptible, solitary tear streaming down his cheek, and he said barely above a whisper...

      "For... Suleiman..."

      Then he silently charged down the gangplank in his horse into a hail of Azteca Gunfire. This was too much for the Marines, and they followed on their horses and on foot in a frenzy of indescribable Valor. Charging into the hail of bullets and Smoke, the First wave of Marines all but smashed the Azteca defenders, and the remaining men were so terrified at the ferocity of the first wave that they began laying down their guns as the second wave advanced.

      Once again, Suleiman's Marines were victorious, although brave Captain Akarlii had been lost along with most of the bravest Mounted Marines that were able to keep up with his charge... but now the victors closed in on Santa-Enya's compound, to arrest the villain at long last... Turkey's heros would not die in vain...

      • The Leftsea Gulf... Off the Coast of Havana...

        Somehow, from his brig cell in the belly of a Turkish ship, Camaxtli the Madman had overheard that Turkey had offered peace to Azteca. In response, the insane former King wrote a "response" as if he had any authority left, which as a prisoner, he did not.

        The acting Captain of The 1 of 3 went to Camaxtli's cell in the brig, holding Camaxtli's recently written letter to Turkey, demanding thousands in Gold and for Turkey to reconquer the cities Azteca gave away, in order to restore them to Azteca.

        The officers all had a good laugh at these inane rantings, so then it was time to break the news to Camaxtli himself. The acting Captain said ... "Well Camaxtli, since you're in the brig of a Marine Destroyer next to your co-hort Santa-Enya, en-route to a Turkish Prison to most likely be executed for War crimes, you're not in any position to make any demands. I'm sure the Sultan will wait to hear from whoever has taken your place since we captured you in Tenochtitlan."

        The Captain laughed in Camaxtli's face, crumples up his letter into a ball and throws it through to cell bars, hitting Santa-Enya in the head with it.

        "Oh and we have a saying here in the Turkish Navy" the officer shouts over his shoulder as he walks up the stairs..."it goes like this."

        "Remember the Alamo..." the Captain said with a smirk... And with that, he shut the door behind him, enveloping the two pitiful prisoners in darkness.

        When the acting Captian got back above decks another officer approched him with a news clipping:
        Still Camaxtli is being his old self, and refuses to have any peace without full restoration and full economical recovery of Azteca ....
        "I wonder if 'full restoration ... of Azteca' includes Tlaxcala?" the acting Captain asked...

        "I doubt it" the officer said, "It probably just means for Turkey to give cities back but nobody else"

        "Or it means what ever President Kennedy says it means" the acting Captain replied quickly

        The two men laughed heartily, watching as the Marines prepared for the invasion of Havana...

          • We still strive for full restoration and full economical recovery of Azteca .... and we want to bring our case before the International Justice Bureau.
            We demand justice, and we declare the Ottomans and Russians agressors and guilty of the worst possible war crimes..

            • Do you mean the Court for International Justice? You need to ratify it first... And so does Turkey, although we can still hear the case, it just won't have any teeth.

              • Incaconaco Terms and Trade Prices, 3 January 1824

                The IFB announces its international trade policies for arms sales and exports for the new year.

                Arms exports are to be divided into 2 categories: current, and cutting-edge. Each category has different pricing and export restrictions (see table 1). Each year has a quota of maximum exports. If a nation wishes to receive exports beyond this quota, "priority pricing" will be put into effect for all production in excess of the quota output, up to whatever limit Incaconaco decides upon. Priority pricing is equal to:
                {([set price] - 100%) * 3 + 100%}
                So that priority pricing for something usually costing 150% will cost 250%.

                Discounts will be made for bulk orders:
                1500G = 5%
                2000G = 7.5%
                2500G = 10%
                3000G = 12.5%

                There is a further 10% discount for all countries in good standing with the CIJ.

                Category1 countries include the following:
                Rus, Ottoman Empire, England

                Category2 countries include the following:
                Native America, Azteca, America, Japan, Arabia, Israel, Mali

                Category3 countries include the following:
                Neandor, France, Vikings, Mongolia

                • Arabia is interested to increase her homeland security and wants to be the first to make a grand deal with the IFB.

                  Hereby we are ordering:
                  8 units of Machineguns and
                  8 units of canon divison.

                  We are ready to make some of the payment in advance and the rest upon delivery. We are a bit disappointed that we are regarded as a second category but at least we can count on the 10% discount being the member of the CJT.
                  We will calculate the exact amount of gold later, but otherwise we accept your pricing. We hope that because of the high demand the Incan industries would increase its capacity to fullfill these contracts as soon as possible.

                  • The Daily Turkey

                    Sultan's Forces Capture both Mad-King Camaxtli and General Santa-Enya

                    In a daring raid led by the brave Captain Akarlii, the Turkish Marines have struck again. In a brief flash of time, Akarlii's raiders were able to capture the Azteca Capital, along with their insane ruler. Soon after, the Marines stormed Teotihua Canal and captured the hated villain, Santa-Enya. Our sources report that the Marines have moved on to Havana, following a refusal of the Americans to rebuff the Southern "rebels", and extract themselves from the conflict. The capture of Havana will cut off the rogue Azteca army. Obviously, what is going on in Texcoco is more cooperation between Mad-Camaxtli and his collaborator, President Kennedy. Camaxtli disguised his Southern Army to save it from the Russians, but Turkey is not fooled.

                    Camaxtli's Identity Verified by top Handwriting Experts

                    Comparisons of the handwriting of the prisoner with earlier samples of King Camaxtli's writing leave no doubt that the Marines have indeed captured the infamous Azteca dictator. He is currently en-route to the Queen's Port, where he will be transferred to a vessel, along with Santa Enya, to be taken to "Black Rock" prison to stand trial.

                    We will keep you informed as this story develops...

                      in an effort to maintain world stability and balance Neandor is sendinf cavalry to help India.

                      Neandor supports Russian aggression against China to secure cities for Mongolia, India and Japan.

                      Neandor will NOT take advantage of this situation and will remain at peace for as long as you request absolute peace.

                      • [Public notice to the Arabs]

                        EDIT: We have had to lower our output for the time being. We were overoptimistic, we think, in our projections. Please see the bottom for new quota limits. We have also lowered the total price of the Arabic trade based on new figures for cannons. See bolded.

                        We too regret that Arabia is not a Cat1 country, but attaining such a distinction requires a long period of diplomatic, economic, and defensive integration that Arabia has not yet obtained. Such an export deal will surely push Arabia in that direction, but there is much further integration needed first to enter the "Cat1" export zone.

                        We believe machine-guns to be worth 187H and cannons to be 180 (150) H. If these values are incorrect, we will correct as necessary. Both are CT arms, and Arabia being a Cat2 country, the markup will be 150% for all arms. The total H desired is 2936 [2696], or 4404 [4044] G for the price. This will be discounted 12.5% for a large bulk order, plus 10% for Arabia being in the CIJ, for a total 22.5% discount off of 4404 [4044]. The final price will be 3854 [3539] G, at a 31.25% markup. This will take 15T [18T] at 200 [150] HPT. Presently, we have only 7 [4]T available at that production rate, then there will be a long gap of approximately 12T afterward before we can finish production in another 8[14]T, so the total order will take 27[33]T to complete, plus delivery time, which we expect to be on the order of 6T.

                        If priority delivery is desired, the cost for all priority production will be 193.75%. We are unsure of our ability to produce priority output, but we expect a further 50HPT could be made available presently, although this will also dip to 0 in a few turns. We wish we could increase our output, but we have domestic needs as well, and infrastructure projects that need to be completed as well, which will improve our ability to produce advanced weaponry, plus we have some defensive units we need to produce for our own cities for now.

                        Arabia will have 8/10 for siege weaponry and 8/10 for defensive weaponry for this era upon completion.

                        There are many payment options, although Incaconaco always prefers a 10T or single-payment plan. As the order will be split over two time periods, two 10T payment plans would also be possible (1927[2022]G (193[203]GPT) beginning now, 1927G [2022] (193[203]GPT) beginning in 1862).

                        In addition, we will require an NAP between Arabia and Incaconaco for 50T, plus 25T NAPs between Arabia and the Ottoman Empire and Rus, all starting upon finalization of contract. We normally require NAPs with neighboring Cat1 countries for any arms sales for appropriate lengths of time.

                        Currently slated exports and available exports:
                        Year contracted/quota
                        1824 0/0HP
                        1826 0/0
                        1828 0/0
                        1830 150/150 Arabia
                        1832 150/150 Arabia
                        1834 150/150 Arabia
                        1836 150/150 Arabia
                        1838 0/0

                        1842 0/0
                        1844 0/0
                        1846 210/210 Turkey

                        • [A public notice]

                          The government of Incaconaco considers China a "rogue state" now. The Indian atrocities were a horrid affair, and in their wake the age-old government of China has collapsed. The lack of public resources led to a renewed plague outbreak that, due to catastrophic sanitary and living conditions, has appeared to have infected a very large percentage of the population, including the governing councils. The nation is to be considered highly dangerous, unpredictable, and at a break with its long-standing historic ties. Chinese armies and civilians should be treated with a high level of inspection and anxiety, for they likely carry the plague with them. We have contact with many pockets of resistance and non-infection within Chinese territory, but these are beset on all sides by a populace gone mad, and an army on a path of such fiery destruction that it must be stopped as quickly as possible.

                          Incaconaco approves of a joint international effort to defeat this Chinese menace and to take over Chinese lands for transfer into the caring colonial control of her neighbors India, Japan, and Mongolia. If a large enough force can be mustered, Incaconaco will assist with its own air and naval forces.

                          • Official communique by ITAR-TASS agency:

                            "According to our espionage services, we have to agree with regret that the former wise Chinese Emperor is no longer in charge in China and the new Chinese leadership is a bunch of mindless radicals obsessed with imperialistic expansion and mindless destruction. Therefore The Russian Communist party will do what it takes if China is proclaimed violator of the international laws by the CIJ. Krasnaia Armia will take the task of sustaining the ongoing aggression against India by the Chinese.

                            End of the communique."

                            In a short interview for Gazeta Pravda, Comrade Catherine said:

                            "Despite our long and hard history with Neandor, I welcome the idea that when it is needed for the good of the world, we can still work in the same direction. This I am sure will lead to a much safer world."

                            • Commander Foo-Shu of China's legendary fortress at Guangzhou felt safe behind his walls. His soldiers were better equipped, better trained, superiorily positioned, they had every tactical advantage militarily imaginable. Except numbers. The Indian army could not be seen in the dark of night, but he knew they were there, the airships had spotted them marching towards the city limits during the day, hundreds of thousands. He was somewhat concerned, but his men were good soldiers, disciplined, professional and the defences of Guangzhou were created for this very purpose. The Indians would have to batter down the outer perimeter first, that would take weeks, by then reinforcements would have arrived, securing the city. An assault would be impossible, even hundreds of thousands would die crossing the river, climbing the ramparts and finally attempting to seize the bunkers, all while being sprayed with automated weaponfire in crossfire. The commander considered himself a sharp military mind. He would succeed in defending the city and its people. As he took his evening meal he felt relieved, the Chinese army had advanced unhindered into Calicut and now marched on the capital Delhi. The war would be over and India would fall, vengeance would be served. Commander Foo-Shu begun eating with a smile thinking of the disappointment the Indians must feel when they must realize that they could not hope to take Guangzhou, they had never had any hope of taking Guangzhou he mused. Commander Foo-Shu stared out at the city from his castle and saw the dark river separating Guangzhou from the Indian army. As he looked over another logistics list his eye exploded and his face collapsed forward into the soup. Special agent Jasmin dropped her rifle and moved into the city for part 2 of the plan.

                              Dawn broke and so did Sergeant Mohandas. He was among the 8th division ordered across the river to the city of Guangzhou, a city founded by China for the sole purpose of keeping India weak. Yet through hatred and abuse, the peaceful Indians had been forged into men of iron. Though not even iron will could suppress the horrors of the current slaugther. As the Indians begun their night-time cannon shelling of the enemy fortification their oldfashioned cannons thundered in stubborn repetition despite the hails of Machine gun bullets and sniper fire. The range of a Chinese Ma-zim gun was equal to that of the primitive Indian cannon and one after another the cannon crews were massacred as they rolled their heavy bronze guns within range, fired, reloaded and too many times fell silent after suffering a rain of shredding gunfire. Yet another crew would pick up where the former left off, and as they fired the Riflemen charged across the river. They met a fiercely determined enemy, the Chinese fought for their lives and the life of every man in the city. Yet the thousands upon thousands of Indians that charged the Machine guns to their deaths would not relent. They kept coming and coming and coming. Line after line of young men exploding into sprays of red as the machine guns and automated rifles struck them. Yet they would keep coming, screaming madmen determined to die one after another by the tens, by the hundreds, by the thousands.

                              As Mohandas begun his run up the ramparts he noticed that the city was alight, the sun rising from the east cast it in a glorious red shine. Guangzhou was built for this very purpose, to break an army of Indians so that they would forever be kept out of the glorious east. Yet hot iron does not break and there was nothing cool about the Indians attacking in the night. The war cries rung out from midnight to dawn, countless screaming Indians. Their shouts shortened by the smattering of automatic weapons. Yet as he ascended he realized that it was not the sunrise he was seeing, it was the city burning. He was among the first to breach the perimeter, a hill of dead Indians behind him proved so, how could the city be burning? As another man died by a Chinese bullet next to him, Mohandas sprung down into the trench and fired his rifle at the Machine Gun crew. His brothers in arms followed and the gun was destroyed, its crew ended with sharp bayonet stabs. Having reached the high point of the perimeter Mohandas realized what was going on, the city was rioting. Panic had spread among the populace and now the defenders were defeated. Tears rolled from his eyes as he saw the dream of millions of Indians come true. Guangzhou had fallen, Ganghes was Indian.

                                The Sultan has announced that Turkey will cooperate fully with the Neandor efforts to give assistance to India against anarchist China. Neandor troops are welcome to cross Turkey for the purpose of joining the Indian cause. We wish India a speedy resolution to this conflict. We further encourage all nations to refrain from engaging in trade with an anarchist state like China. Nations like China and Azteca that are leaderless should be forced to stabilize before they are allowed to conduct trade or diplomacy on the world stage. All nations should cancel any trade deals they have with these nations at once.
