It is believed that the unskilled Bulgarian clerks with their clumsy writings are responsible for the lack of answer to 3 of the letters sent to different nations lately.
Khan Asparukh is reportedly heard saying in front of his tent while camping with his army near Ankara: "Bloody clerks and shamans with their ugly and useless scrawls - good that we dont rely on them too much! I dont believe anyone who cant ride a horse or cant wield an axe and spear."

Roman senators discuss the growing piracy in the Adriatic and the measures to be taken against pirates.
Marcus Agrippa venerable Senator said the following:
"Dear colleagues, Rome could no longer afford to tolerate piracy, two weeks ago they dared to attack the government gallery Republican officials on board to sink. Pirates descend to earth and kidnap Roman citizens directly from their beds. I suggest the following to declare total war against the pirates to them should not show any mercy. Rome has also reported that pirates found refuge in foreign ports to sell their loot, if this is true the country that support them will be treated as the most vile enemy. I said please Honourable senators to vote for my proposal. "
All the senators voted unanimously.

Viriathus, King of Lusitania to the Honourable Senate of Rome,
Hail great warriors, engineers and lawmakers of the East. We applaud your war against pirates. We too have noted a rise in piracy in the quiet sea. Our city of Valentia lives by its export of the resources of Lusitania to the wider world - horses, gold, cows and other goods. Our traders have been facing increases in piracy over recent years. We have taken our own action - moving a military fleet and crossbowmen to Valentia and the coasts of the quiet sea. We have found this has produced some decrease in piracy along our coast, but the threat remains.
We would welcome coordinated effort with those implementing Marcus Agrippa's wise and courageous motion.

Hanno II announces anti-piracy measures.
The Carthaginian fleet has been put on higher alert as our friends in Rome have informed us of piracy in the Adriatic. Especially the fleets in the Ionian and the Tyrrhean seas have been alarmed.
Still there is no additional information. Carthaginian waters remain calm and full of trade.
Let it be known that we will do everything in our power that these waters remain in that peacefull state.

The Khan woke up early this morning. The birds were singing, the grass was green and the crude face of Asparukh was almost cheer.
"The Turks have offended us calling us dishonorable warriors, but let look at it from the brighter side - they cant believe that anyone can fight so well and win so overwhelmingly without using some unfair advantage. Well, that can be taken as a compliment.
I know what the problem is. The Sultan thinks we want too much, and we think they are skinflints. We will never come to agreement soon if everyone insists on his own agenda. Maybe after all we can still live long in peace?"Last edited by Bulgaria (DoF); September 22, 2011, 12:18.
