  • The battle of Giza

At 6.34 AM, before departing with the Combined Fleet, Admiral Hippo Regius wired a confident message to the navy minister in Carthage:

“I have just received news [via wireless] that the enemy fleet has been sighted. Our fleet will proceed forthwith to sea to attack the enemy and destroy him.”

At the same time the entire Carthaginian main battle fleet put to sea, with Admiral Hippo Regius from his flagship CRS Maltese Falcon leading his vessels to meet the Egyptians. Meanwhile, the shadowing Carthaginian scouting vessels sent wireless reports every few minutes as to the formation and course of the Egyptian fleet. There was still mist which reduced visibility and the weather was poor.

Wireless gave Carthage an advantage; in his report on the battle, Admiral Regius noted the following:

“Though a heavy fog covered the sea, making it impossible to observe anything at a distance of over five miles, through wireless messaging all the conditions of the enemy were as clear to us, who were 30 or 40 miles distant, as though they had been under our very eyes."

At around 1:40 PM, both fleets sighted each other and prepared to engage each other. Also at 1:55 PM, Admiral Regius ordered the hoisting of the Z flag:

“The Empire's fate depends on the result of this battle, let every man do his utmost duty.”

At 2:45 PM, Regius crossed the Egyptian "T" enabling him to fire broadsides from Carthags destroyers, while the Egyptian heavier battleships could only reply with their forward turrets.

    Crossing the Egyptian "T"

The Egyptians sailed from south-southwest to north-northeast; the Carthaginian fleet from west to northeast "continuing to a point of intersection which allowed only their bow guns to bear; enabling him to throw most of the Egyptian batteries successively out of bearing."

Admiral Regius ordered the fleet to turn in sequence, which enabled his ships to take the same course as the Egyptians, though risking each destroyer in turn. This U-turn was successful. The Egyptian admiral had only two alternatives, "a charge direct, in line abreast", or to commence "a formal pitched battle."

He chose the latter, and at 1408 hours (2:08 PM), the Carthaginian ship CRS Dido Superior was hit at about 7,000 metres, with the Carthaginian replying at 6,400 metres. Superior Carthaginian gunnery then took its toll with most of the Egyptian battleships being crippled. As naval engagements traditionally began at a considerably closer range, Regius immediately gained the advantage of surprise.

Commander Ro Hor Sema, a Egyptian staff officer aboard the flagship, noted that "It seemed impossible even to count the number of projectiles striking us. Shells seemed to be pouring upon us incessantly one after another. The steel plates and superstructure on the upper decks were torn to pieces, and the splinters caused many casualties. Iron ladders were crumpled up into rings, and guns were literally hurled from their mountings. In addition to this, there was the unusually high temperature and liquid flame of the explosion, which seemed to spread over everything. I actually watched a steel plate catch fire from a burst."

The Bor Odi under heavy Carthaginian fire

A direct hit on the Bor Odi's magazines by the Carthaginian destroyer CRS Caesar of Citorno caused her to explode, which sent smoke thousands of feet into the air and trapped all of her crew on board as the Bor Odi slid under the sea. Admiral Ro Hese was knocked out of action by a shell fragment that struck his skull. The Egyptians lost the entire fleet of 4 battleships Kya Su, Osly Aba, Im Alek and Bor Odi. The Carthaginian destroyers suffered the comparatively light damage of 4 destroyers: CRS Dido Superior, CRS Swift Justice, CRS Scourge of the Seas and CRS Lord of the Sea.

This battle shows that considerably better battleships can be out-maneuvered and destroyed by elite lighter forces, consisting of destroyers. Result of the battle is that an imminent invasion of Carthaginian soil is stopped, before it got time to materialize.

      • Geza confirmed the peace offer to Greece once again.
Now Hungary is awaiting the positive answer from Greece to this offer, or for a sane realistic counter offer.

Capitulation to Hungary is for obvious reason a part of any realistic peace that can exist between Greece and Hungary.
Greece cannot expect much mercy from Hungary after Greece greedily refused peace three (3!) times before.

In Hungary many civilians, architects and generals are preparing themselves to rebuild Greece and improve it's armies and structures as soon as Greece has accepted it's defeat. Hungary hopes that'll be rather sooner then later, but is fully prepared to fight a long war in and against Greece.

        • Ha ha ha.. gotta love the Carthagian peace humbug.. try for peace while they are openly aggressive with everyone who does not bow to them.. First they have started a war destroying our scout ship and now they destroyed four fishing boats in Egyptian waters.. Battleships, right.. in 1410.. what an absurd claim..

          • "Do you believe this?

Obviously they do everything to keep their defeats (and technological progress) secrets.."

"Men, be sure to get evidence the next time we spot those battleships.. as they will keep on coming."

            • The Persian king was relaxing on holiday. was...

His messenger burst into his room in the tropical resort of Palmyra, deep in the "void desert" of the east of Persia. "Sir, sir, I have important news!" Quite visible peeved, the king got up from his oil massage and sat up on his reclined chair and motioned the messenger forward. The messenger ran over as quickly as he had burst in and handed the king a scroll. The king, slowly and with the same peeved look affixed directly on the messenger, opened the scroll vertically. It read:

War between Carthage and Egypt begun. Naval conflict commenced. Carthaginians claim victory. Greece on the brink of destruction, Hungary offers vassalage. Reports of Egyptian battleships unconfirmed. Egyptian delegation in Pasargadae requesting to discuss economic affairs. Prince Ozzymanius sends his regards and promises that all affairs will be handled well, though the king is requested in the capital as soon as possible to discuss these matters more fully with the concerned parties.

              King's Security Minister
              XXXXXXX

The king looked up at the messenger. He peevedly peered into his eyes for some seconds. "Well... seems like everything is under control. Why did you bother me so?" His voice had turned into a low growl. The messenger, clearly confused and petrified said nothing, slowly stammering backwards. The king stood up, his figure large and dominating. The messenger broke and ran towards the door, but the king's guards had gotten the gist of the king's desires and locked them behind him.

A half hour later, the doors reopened and the chief of security for the king peeked in to see the king sleeping on his reclined chair as the masseuse worked his calves. He motioned for two of the guards to quietly take the messenger's body away. The king was not to be bothered with such affairs presently.

              • -Ladies and Gentelmen, our guest now is General Ra'Musso, second in command in the Egyptian Army, and hopefully we are going to get answers to many questions which are in public interest for long time now. So the war with the 'vile' Carthagenians..
So, according to official reports Carthago after being dishonest with us in the past and commiting many crimes around the globe got greedy of our wealth and launched a surprise attack on a peacefull conwoy, destroyed our fishing boats blockaded our ports, is that rigth?
-Yes, it's all true, but here and now we want to reassure our people: the good will prevail, we will ensure the safety of Egypt and going to punish those, who..
-Well, yes yes.. however what we really want to talk about here are the content of some documents we have acquired not a long time ago. These documents seems to be genuine and confirm some of the rumors which tells us that there is more behind this war that the government wants us to believe.
-Rumors are rumors.. they exist to cause unrest and uncertainity among us. Hor'Aha and the rest of the government are always honest to the people and that's why they are loved by all, except few treacherous rebels, who are probably working for Car..
-So first lets see these old papers. They are scripts of ancient diplomatic talks between Egypt and almost all the so called western powers..I don't think we need to name them, almost all of them, that CArthage would consider as friends. In this Egypt was requested to assist them an invasion against Carthage..
-Which we refused of course.. in diplomacy there are talks sometimes and there is reason why they should not be made public. The point is: Egypt refused to get involved so we kept the peace as we..
-Yes, but the more interesting: what was the reason: "the time is not rigth", a living non aggression pact with Carthage", " do yourself if you wish"
                -These are fabrications..
-We also have some recent diplomatic papers.. according to these Egypt expected a war with Carthage soon after the non aggression pact ends. In diplomatic letters, this time mostly with the eastern world Egypt did not even hide this view. " war is imminent" we can read.
-Our intelligence suspected something like this, yes, that's their job after all...
-Maybe, but now we get to our most interesting document, military plans called "Rise of Horus 301"
-I think this interview is over..
-Isn't this 301 is a bit interesting? The attack of Carthage, the end of the non aggression pact is considered to be the 300th cycle and in the 301th..
-What do you want to accomplish..
-Just to show the truth.. that The evil Carthage attacked one turn before the Egyptian attack would had taken place anyway.. our people deserve to know why!
-It is obvious to anyonje who is not blind.. it's about our past and future.. we both want the same thing.. to be the richest, the strongest.. to be the master of our mare.. there could be only one.. both nations know this.. we also know that it is our destiny to figth this war even if the most likely result will be that younger civilizations will get stronger while we weaken each other.. but there is no other way now.
-This is crazy.. peace should be our main concern
-The time of peace is over.. the war is raging, just as we speak the main Egyptian fleet started its assult in Carthagian waters. They have managed to slow us down.. but only slowed.. not stopped.. already 25 ships of steel have been sunk.. Egyptian and Carthagian aswell.. and the war is just being started..

Well there seems to be settling a level of realism in the Egyptain army. This general Ra'Musso seems to know what he is talking about. So when the time comes for talking he is welcome.

                      • The first phase of the naval war between Carthage and Egypt has ended.
Losses have been heavy on both sides, but now the Egyptian fleet has left our waters.

The Carthag navy remains vigilant, and war is not over.

As Admiral Hippo Regius puts it:
"This is not the end, it's not even the beginning of the end, it's the end of the beginning."

                        • The fall of the dictator:
According to unconfirmed rumors the dictator Caesar was killed when entering the Senate. Do not know who his murderers, and who had sent them, but the streets of Rome is full of soldiers and introduced emergency. All orders are signed by the consuls and confirmed by the great seal of the Senate. Perhaps the republic was restored, but so far we have no data on this.

                          • War report

Hor'Aha has ordered the main egyptian fleet to suspend the blockade of Citorio, the main weapon factory of Carthage. Unfortunately the blockade was not able to slow down the Carthagian warmachine enough, the war must continue.
So far 38 steel ships have been destroyed and our intelligence reports that Carthage has already managed to replace most of their losses, 16 destroyers are waiting just in two of their cities. Now they posses the technology to produce Battleships, we must defend our cities and find an other way to break our enemy.
Meanwhile as part of the defense force Egypt celebrates the newest addition to her fleet:

For clarity: the 38 steel ships which were lost are the total combined losses of both Egypt and Carthag.

The war has been both brutal and chivalrous at the same time.
Sailors of both countries clearly know how to wage war on the sea.
How good will their land armies do?

                              • The people of Rome gathered at the forum where they gathered the whole Senate, headed by two consuls. Next came Stsevola Lucius, who was the eldest of senators: Dear countrymen, Romans, I am pleased to inform you that the dictator is dead, and Rome again a republic ruled by free people. From now on, the Senate and both consuls were the government of the Roman Republic. Army already sworn allegiance.
People generally remained silent, only here there was applause. One of the people came forward and said: Why among you there is no Army commander Why Julius Caesar was killed secretly in such a derogatory manner.
Lucius Stsevola said Army supports us, but the high command did not want to obey the Senate, but we will convince them.
People slowly started to leave and calls senators about freedom and equality rang in the empty square.
