BTW, I am a bit afraid that the game will look and feel like more Civ5, rather than to my beloved Civ4. Also, there are a lot of rumors that the game approach will copy those of all the other "free" online games - like SeaFight, Mafia and so on - you can play the game for free, but if you want to be something more than a poor beggar, you have to buy credits in the game for real money. I tried Sea Fight and it is cool, but when I hit level 5 or something, to me it became clear that if you want to buy a good ship, either you have to play 1 week without a break to gather the pearls needed by the normal way, or you have to buy these pearls with real dollars, which sucks.
But let the things happen one at a time - first our team have to be chosen to participate in the alpha I\ll get one more friend to join us

It will be completely different then any civ game, I expect.
I wonder what it'll be like. I've never played a facebook game. As a matter of fact I only signed upto facebook b/c of Civ:World (network back then).
So, people, stop adding me to your friends network, I'm not going to do anything with facebook except playing civ:WorldFormerly known as "CyberShy"

Yea, guess not.
I thought we had a pretty good case though! Maybe not enough of us played Farmville or the other annoying Facebook games they were trying to copy...Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Sadly, they seem to choose large teams - no matter the participants barely know each other, leave alone that they are not a team at all. A friend of mine joined a team with about 50 players and he got a message they are accepted, but not much information is available and nowhere more info can be found.

Well, many facebook teams may consists of people who don't know each other. So that's a good way for Firaxis to check how it works. Apparently more teams will be invited for the alpha/beta tests later.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

To keep the interest and feed your thoughts, here is a conversation I had with one lucky ba$**** on another forum, which happened to be selected as an alpha-tester.

Sorry about that. Did you apply to be a tester yourself?

That would be correct.

I still haven't had that much of a chance to play the game (it's down for maintenance quite a bit during the alpha, as you might imagine)... and I'm not permitted to say that much anyway. However, I'll say it's definitely proving to be a fun and addictive game so far. There seem to be quite a few clever innovations which don't make it too critical to play every few hours (although you might find it hard to stop yourself anyway ).
I don't think it's any kind of spoiler to mention that obviously (as it's a Facebook game) there are options to purchase stuff in-game with real money. I'm not sure yet how this will affect the possibility of playing highly competitive games - you can probably imagine that the option of purchasing stuff is rather close to having a "cheat button" available, which the extremely competitive might not like. Still, it's possible there'll be solutions figured out to that. Either way, it's definitely proving fun to play.
