There was a discussion on this earlier, and it was decided that it was optional. Pros and cons to both sides.

There was such rule forgotten by the bunch of players. I was the only one who made a point about it and there was later even some voting to disable this rule - I think the general sentiments were to just drop that rule and since then the renaming became optional. (Just like the swimsuits on the Malian beaches and contrary to the Ozzlandia severe laws incriminating all kind of topless chicks photographs, even if their face cant be seen and they they cant be recognized and are photographed aesthetically, and are photographed at a public place, thus not violating any their privacy)

We averaged 67 story posts during the first 5 months. We have averaged 127 story posts once war broke out.

Will be interesting to see what July brings.

Well one thing seems clear. The majority of the direct participants in the Great War (those who actually DoW on someone) agree that there was one Great War that began when Vikings DoWed England and ended with the recent Russian written treaty. That seems settled then, since the participants are the ones who usually define a war.
