wait... didn't everyone think that war was awesome?!? Especially the French story posts during the war... I for one definitely feel like "awesome, let's ride that ride again"

Is that bad? Does that make me a bad person or something?

Russia considers this war to be truly awful, nothing even close to Great, except that our alliance won at the end. But looking at it practical, Russia did finished the war with lower GNP than when it entered it + the five-digit debts. Only in diplomatic stance I feel better than before entering the war.

I have told Veneta many, many times that war in Europe must not be allowed by any means and it will be real disaster for all the Europeans. It is only satisfying that the supposed stronger players jumped at each-other instead of heading for the still bows and sticks armed other parts of the world. In this regard, the idea of packing all the Tier1 players in Europe was great success.
          I completely agree.

And while all the big boys were beating the crap out of each other those bow & stick civs caught up a lot of ground, which was also part of the wisdom of this. Tiers are an unqualified success.

          • Incan histories proffer the following:
The Great War began with the sack of English cities and culminated in the Israeli "backstabbing".
The Great War ended in an uneasy cease-fire, followed by about 100 years of relative peace.
The War on Israel began after this, directly connected to but not a part of the Great War.
The War on Israel was concluded, then the Second Great War began, lasted a brief time, and ended with a fairly diplomatic flourish that saw most of the gains of the Great War erased for the Central Powers.

Now, the only current conflict is the Japanese Consolidation.

Shouldn't this be in the Story thread?

Anyway, I disagree... Russia and France remained at War from when France declared War on England, until after Israel surrendered, so Turkish history would likely show that there was one War, which arguably is still going, continuing on into the current India-Japan conflict, which is clearly related to the Great War at least if not a continuation of it.

Thanks ! And I think that really the only participants (direct or indirect) in the War that are actually better off than if the War never happened, are Inca, Mali and Japan. Everyone else is the same or worse off... But what a great ride!

                      • Pretty much everyone that didn't participate is better off given that the top contenders all beat themselves silly and leveled the playing field.

Natives, China, Zulu, etc, etc, all benefited also.

At present, I can safely say the war has cost me thousands of gold tonnes.

Anyway loans are gain, not "cost" as you get a return on them, but I agree that the War was costly for all involved. Even those who benefit had to give up a lot to get those gains.
