NVM America. I take it back. I will be back in time. I reserve the right to attack without mercy. :-)

I'm still unable to play until tuesday when my computer comes back from the repair show and my sub is going on vacation. Is there someone else who can sub until I get my computer back?
Originally posted by India (DoE) View PostJapan has not played his turn and there are 8 hours left on the timer. If Japan does not play within 2 hours I will have to play my turn as I will be unable to play after that.
Despite my own shortcomings I do believe that a 50/50 split of a long turn timer during war is fair and that it is the responsibility of the nations at war to play their turns. Of course, during exceptional circumstances we should allow for a pause if it is requested and for a good reason. Just my 2 cents.
And finally @ Vikings: you think you have it tough? I am fighting a war against Japan supported by China, Inca and England. I now have 6 cities. You think I have a chance of winning the game? I may not even have a chance to win the war. I play to fulfill other minor goals that I have made for myself and try to find fun in those. Of course it is very frustrating to see all my hard work go down the drain because of the decisions of other players that I have no control over, but such is the ruling of an empire. It is hard and bitter work and should not be taken too seriously. In previous diplogames I near developed an ulcer from the frustrations I suffered. It is not worth it. Find fun in other things than winning the game, such as writing cool content or roleplaying your civ in a cool way

Speaking of which, America you can just skip me. I will play after you as I am OOTown.
I promise I won't attack this turn or next turn. I just don't want to hold up the turn.

England is no more supporting Japan than the Vikings are supporting you. Japan paid a fair price for their units. We worked out a deal to sell ships to you too but you reneged. I have no sympathy.
Also,
on a 50/50 split. And yea, if Japan doesn't play soon, then just go for it. No player should hold the game hostage.

Imho: those who can't play at least once a day should not declare war..
I suggest that after at least 24h it should be considered that they missed the turn Unless they ask for more time, but then they should start looking for a sub temporary until they can be sure again to play at least once a day. IT might not be the most fair thing, but otherwise we risk killing the game with the constant pauses.

@vikings: ofc you have no shot at winning, everyone knows it will be us who will beat everyone shortly.. or the Zulus.
.
(ooc I could tell my theory what China is doing and why, but it's better to be kept ic.) Having enemies is part of the fun, now the pauses are really annoying at least if it were a bigger war, but I have a feeling there is not a really bloody war happening anywhere right now.

Yeah, I get vilified every time I don't broker a peace settlement. Consider yourself lucky

I agree. And sorry I meant 18 to 20 hrs minimum per side, not 10...

PLEASE keep a differentiation in your mind between IN-game statements and OUT-of-game feelings. It may be perfectly characteristic in the situation for the Chinese to get riled up over what happened, even if the player doesn't actually personally think there was anything wrong with what you did as a player. Mold a story line to go with it and detach your sensitivities.

What the hell? Has this suddenly become an anti-Vikings game? As I've f***ing explained several times, I have no interest in aiding India. I was settling a debt that the previous Viking player unwisely incurred. As to why I did it now, India contacted me a while back and asked me to finish up my debt. They made no mention of any agreement that they should not receive units from outside sources. I had NO f***ing knowledge of it, and now I'm being vilified by multiple nations for that and told by the Chinese thatBetween this and all the dozens of pauses and the fact that I have absolutely no shot at winning this game in any way I'm starting to reconsider my earlier thought that this game was fun.Vikings will be considered enemies of China as well and we will find a way to exact revenge.

I strongly dissaprove of shortening the turns. All that does is bring back the bad old days of constant pausing and reloads
And its especially unfair to have a strict turn-plitting system that gives each side only 12hrs to play their turns. Hell, I often go to work for 12-14 hrs at a time. If we are strictly splitting turns we need to give each side a minimum of 18-20 hrs each.Last edited by Ottoman Empire (DoE); August 14, 2011, 00:45.

Sounds good to me. Though we'd need to have some strict system to ensure India & Japan play their turns so we don't have to pause & reload every other turn.Originally posted by Robert Plomp View PostOnly 2 civs are at war, right? Can we lower the timer indeed back to 24 hours?

There was an error creating a save file. (that happens when someone logs in twice quickly after each other).
It then generates a pop-up window that stalls the game. It's now running again.
