All over Egypt, people are rushing to the streets, celebrating with Whiskeh and Beer! The war appears to be over, and Luxor has not fallen! The Great Pharaoh Ramesses II sent towncriers to all Egyptian cities, decreeing two days of celebration, and a stern warning that any violent actions against Inca living in Egypt will not be tolerated and severely punished.

Our people have much in common and we live side by side. We share a religion, and thus share certain ideals and values. Surely we can again find common ground, and put the recent events behind us.

Everything was going as usual in England, army was growing nicely, equiped with the latest english technology. Science was strong as usual, all of England was excited about soon to be discovered knowledge of Railroads. English colonies were growing in population, every day new citizens were arriving. Many workers left from the homeland to go to the colonies for the better wages.

Politically Gen Hulk wasn't happy with the Natives, time and again his letters weren't answered, one "not interested" would do he thought. But this silence wasn't welcomed, very undiplomatic at best.

Elsewhere the Inca have settled the agreed buffer zone between England and Peru. Both countries had an agreement to not settle that area for centuries. It seems Peru with all their pride have forgotten that. England dissaproves of this action, still knowing how much the Inca are pressed for land we will leave with it.

Just one thing Peru, as you know settling in the buffer zone between us, you now have the chance to culture take our only source of iron. This is a strategical resource which England will not loss! We ask if you manage to overtake our culture to freely gift it back to us.

In short, we welcome your city, but if we loss our iron and you do not give it back to us, our military will intervene immediately.

A constitution for the Byzantine Empire

The Northern Islands of the Byzantine Empire had always had a different, harsher culture that the mainland.

But over recent years it had become darker. The traditional Byzantine cast system had been twisted and exploited, so that on the islands (and in some of the northern ports such as Niceae) they had become so fixed, so rigid, that the place of foreigners, particularly from the jungles of the South, the castes were effectively slavery by another name.

In this last generation many were taken against their will to the islands.



Finally order started to break down, as a wave of riots spread from island to island.



At this point the problem spread from the islands to the mainland. Soon there was turmoil in Constantinople itself. For many of the new middle-classes schooled in the universities and the principals of free religion and free trade, found the reports coming from the islands offensive. At one point the military got out of hand in putting down a protest, with respectable men being killed.



At that point Justinian was forced to act. Calling together his council they debated how to ensure the protection of all within the Byzantine empire - islander or not.



Finally it was decided. The only way of ensuring that the traditional caste system worked for the benefit of the whole nation, was to enshrine the system and the structure of Byzantine society in a clear public form - a constitution.



There would be no slaves, not even in the northern islands. And each of the castes would choose representatives by a public process of elections



These representatives to gather annually in the great council building of Byzantine people to advice Emperor Justinian on matters of state.



Justinian was pleased. These new forms of government would strengthen the Byzantine state. The people would be happier, and science and industry would thrive.

Great victories for Russia!


Following counter-espionage efforts, the discovery of a large contingency of Ottoman Trebuchets stationed within short distance of the border resulted in a demand for action. Prince Igor realized that though the Ottoman spoke of peace and defence, a Trebuchet army had one purpose and one purpose only, to siege and destroy cities in offensive war, not defensive. Realizing that haste was of the essence, Prince Igor ordered his troops to board ships and immediately set sail into Ottoman territory. The city of Mehmed fell after the gallant amphibious assault succeeded with no major Russian casualties and a large swathe of land was secured. Despite poor odds, Russian troops once again showed themselves to be far superior to those of its neighbours. The Russian people celebrated and immediately spread into the new territories. Prince Igor now had a terrible dilemma. If he were to take the city, the Ottoman counterattack would easily break his small group of defenders, but if he were to destroy the city, the territory won would be Russian, all Russian, and could easily be settled by Russian settlers.

Exterminating the city seemed the best option. In a dream Igor had shown mercy and there was great problems. Perhaps this time would be different.

At the same time, the southern Russian army had boarded ships near Rostov and sailed southwards to hunt pirates. When the call to war came, the glorious southern navy quickly moved upon the Ottoman island of Bayezid and captured the northern settlement.

The success of the military strike shocked even the most optimistic of Russian generals, though there were some minor casualties in the assault of Mehmed.

War in the North

The Byzantine and Russian people had long intermarried in the northern land, known to the Russians as Kola. Although it was a millenium since the Byzantine government withdrew from Rhodes, most of the people remained Byzantine though living among Russian neighbours happily. Thus, news flowed quickly and easily from Russia to Constantinople.

Even so the swiftness of the Russian strike shocked the Byzantine diplomatic corps. Fast courier ships had been dispatched to sail up the Marmara to the palace docks in Constantinople as soon as the Russian army began to board its ships. Immediately Justinian summoned his advisors, but scarcely had they gathered when more messanger ships arrived telling of the Russian capture of Mehmed and Bayezid.

Quickly the council hammered out some policy outlines:

1. The Russians have long since been our friends and our people live closely with them - Byzantine wishes its neighbours well.

2. We have long traded with the Ottomans. They are good people.

3. The Russians have a reputation for war.

4. The Ottomans have a reputation for greed. The number of cities they have founded in the southern lands are beyond count, seizing the land and resources for themselves it seems, while other nations such as Russia remain boxed in. However there is nothing wrong in a nation pursuing prosperity.

5. Turmoil in the northern lands is bad for Byzantium, never mind for the people of the northern lands.

It is not Byzantium's role to act as policemen for the world, or to interfere in the lives of its neighbours as if they were vassals. Independent nations must be free to pursue their own lives.

But we call on the Russian and Ottoman leaders to settle their dispute quickly before it destabalises the whole of the northern lands. Five periods is your own business, twenty periods becomes the world's business.

And a letters were dispatched to our friends in the north - the Guru Beli-Az and great Kane.

My fellow leaders, Guru Beli-Az and Kane,

I am sure you too have heard of the terrible news of war between the Russians and Ottomans. This has come as a great shock to us. I hope you can join me in maintaining peace, and urging both parties to settle their differences quickly and to establish peace. Let us three pledge together to avoid escalating this war - keeping ourselves out of it - but working diplomatically for peace. I have sent Benedict, a man greatly experienced in reconciliation and diplomacy, to establish a mission in the ruins of the city of Rhodes. Here surrounded by the truth of the destruction of war, but also by the truth of the possibility of reconciliation, we call on all the peoples of the north to meet to bring peace to our lands.

Letter of Mercy to Ottoman

To Saladin of the Ottoman

As you are well aware, our superior forces have captured 2 of your cities, and we will easily continue our campaign against your underdefended overstretched empire. Despite its obvious flaws, the city of Mehmed was spared from destruction, which is nothing short of an act of unparallelled mercy from a nation that you have committed great crimes against. We wish that this war do not spin out of proportion.

As your intelligence efforts should tell you, your nation is ill prepared to fight. Your janissary armies are fine soldiers, but they are designed for battles against obsolete troops, not the battle-hardened experienced Russian musketmen. In addition, we have made a deal with another nation that will arrange for the upgrading of our siege engines to Cannons.

Though your empire is large, it is also poorly defended, your people have outstretched themselves too far for your military to be able to defend them. As such a continued war would bring great suffering to your people. Furthermore, we have full control over your eastern ports, your government is ill suited to handle war, and our armies will be boosted greatly by forced recruitment should you wish to continue fighting.

We offer you the following terms:
Surrender Bayezid's Wall to Russia.
Acknowledge Russia's conquests.
Disband, sell or give away all Trebuchets.
Cease all espionage efforts against us.

These are noble terms offered to a nation that so blatantly plotted against us. We wish to contain this conflict from escalating beyond a mere expeditionary action. We hope you have the wisdom to sit down at the negotiation table and discuss terms.

Incans chasing culture expansion , his cap will expand culture next turn and it might take away a sugar resource of ours plus a workshop in North Prov. If this loss is incurred it will impact our deals with other nations.

We warn Inca that we will not tolerate cultural imperialism - they are running Liberalism and have +100% culture. It would be nice if they relaxed this civic to avoid conflict in the future - again, he should have colonised to get land!

England have also posted a warning about this to Inca - if Inca take Eng iron.

Be aware inca/peru you have been offered expansion right and trade deals this is your final chance to remain part of this civilised world.

Youe actions over centuries are war driven and lust for power.

We and the English will not put up with this.

If you culturally take over our resourse on our island we will take whatver action we see fit in cooperation with our ally to amend this situatiuon

Gen Hulk read the latest news.

It seems our Korean allies are suffering from Peruvian culture as we are. Why are the Peruvian investing so much into culture, one thing is to want to expand your cities borders, but a whole different matter is to try and push into your neighbours borders with your culture.

It has been more than 24hrs and no reply from Peru yet. Gen Hulk requested that a Redcoat brigade be send to the border city of Hastings and oversee that proper actions be taken if Peru keeps on pressing on our iron mines.

Gen Hulk asked one of his officers to sail to Korea asap and notify our friends that they can count on English total support.

England has just learned of the newly erupted war between Russia and the Ottomans.

This did not supprise Gen Hulk, it has been known for some time now that both nations relations weren't good at all. Ottomans have for sometime now bullied the War loving Russians.

It seems the land pressed Russians decided to strike first the unprepared Ottomans.

Being far from us and our none interest in that region of the world we will stay Neutral.

This conflict seems to be a fair one, both countries are of a similar size and power. We hope that greater powers do not intervene and let this conflict run its course.
